Hi
We want to be able to print orders to a CSV file so that we can transmit the orders to our branch (fulfillment center). Currently we send PDF files that have to be re-entered.
If it cannot be done do you have any third party companies that we can contact.

Create a specification file (Form using Maintain | Specifications) with the layout that you want. Instead of selecting to Print this Form, make the output destination "File" and select "Text" for the format you want. The file name is set in the Company Profile (%dno = Save the file with the document number as the File name and a .TXT extension).

This is assuming you are running a recent version of OrderEntry.

That's going to be difficult, because you're talking about data in a header/detail format. Order Entry doesn't provide a method of exporting orders/invoices or printing to anything more than PDF/Text. Likely, you'd need to use GridView to export the data into two CSV (or XLS) files. You need to set the ranges. Your Adagio dealer could help you through this process. Dakota Software could provide a more elegant approach, but it would be the more expensive route.

PS. Sounds like Andrew has a better plan, if you can parse that text.

Hi
Thanks for the information. The problem with a text file is that the fields cannot be mapped so it can be imported at our fulfillment center.

Is this to be a once-per-day process, occasionally-per-day or order-by-order? By the sound of it, you are comfortable with having a user run a process that selects Order(s).

GridView can be used to create a report View showing what you want. That report can then be exported to Excel (and to CSV from there) or to HTML.

An alternative would be to create an application that uses the Adagio ODBC module to extract the Order information and build a CSV file. This rquires only some basic VBA skills.

If you already own GridView and the frequency is other than order-by-order, then option 1 is your quickest and least expensive to implement.

Thanks for the help
We currently do 100 to 150 orders each day. We print them one by one into PDF's. Then we send the PDF's to the appropriate warehouse for shipping. We don't own these warehouses. They are fulfillment centers. They would like our orders in a format that can be imported.
They said one way would be to send the orders by email with CSV attachments. These attachments are automatically grabbed by there system.
They do all the mapping of the fields but need a format like a CSV file or excel file.
I am going to try your suggestion for Gridview.
We are currently able to integrate to the UPS system by having a batch file sent to the UPS system. The problem with this file is that it contains every un-shipped order in the system. The fulfillment centers only want orders that they are to ship.

If they can accept an Excel file, that reduces your process by one step. GridView can easily create an Excel file; it can even do so overnight on an automated basis, though I suspect that isn't the correct timing for you. GridView will work well for you if you can batch the Orders once or a handful of times per day. The challenge will come with things like Customer and Item codes; they will have to match. I would ask for a sample file that they are currently importing successfully.

A CSV file is a text file. Just include the commas as fields on the form.

As Bob mentioned, parsing an order is always comlicated because it has (at least) two discrete parts, the header information and the detailed items.

Hi Bruce,

You can have GridView directly create the CSV on a workstation by workstation basis by editing the SSI2XL.INI file in \Softrak\System.
