Is there a report that we can print to show a range of historical transactions of a customer after those months are closed in AR?

I just printed off one of the customers history transactions from March 2011 to current date but it only showed transactions from Oct. 2011. Then I printed off another customer account using the same range of period and the report showed only certain ones from March to current date. I checked the box for applied details also for both reports. Why didn't it include every transaction each account had from the start of the range, only selected ones?

It will only print transactions that are still in history. You may have purged them. Depending on how you have configured your system, the option to purge will appear either during Period/Year End Processing or during Statement printing. If you have configured it to happen during Statement printing, it's possible that one customer will have a different range of historical transactions than another, depending on when the statements were last printed for each customer.

The month-end procedures for AR and AP are: Maint. menu>period end>clear batch status (Y)>clear customer history (Y). Is this the reason why we can no longer get the historical transactions from the history report file? If this is the case, we can stop selecting (Y) for clearing customer history.

In these days of $129 Terabyte disk drives, clearing your transactions monthly does not make a lot of sense.

When 5 Mbytes cost $5,000 it was more of a problem.

How long do you keep Transaction History for? This is a setting for the number of days, found in the Company Profile. Maybe you just need to set this number larger than you currently have: the maximum is 9999.

As posted already, you probably want to keep history longer than one month or 3 months - a minimum of a year and probably longer.

As there are specific Purge Vendor History and Clear Customer History processes, you don't have to do purge history as part of Period End.

Also, though not so critical, why purge the Batch Status list? It uses virtually no space and can be useful when looking back to see what happened several months ago.
