In IC 8.1C (110713) we can import the item code, description and base price, however, there doesn't seem to be an option to import notes. We also want to import an image link.

We are about to launch a 250 page catalogue and to sync Adagio IC with the new catalogue is a major project but essential to successfully launching the catalogue. Do we have to do all the notes and images manually?

Can you add these fields to Import/Items so they are available to import from ???

Hello Susan,

The "Image file path" is available for import, however, "Notes" are not. Can I ask what information you are placing in the Notes field that you want to Import? Could one of the optional fields be used in their stead? Are you driving information "up to" the web site, or downloading information from the web site?

Susan:

The image path is a field on the item import field list. To see the format add a path manually and then export the item with the image field.

There is no note import for items. Someone with the tools to write directly to the data tables could offer to do this as a service. Your Adagio dealer can put you in touch with someone.

Hi Andrew,

In our catalogue, we have a title for the item, that will go to the description field, but then we also have a paragraph or two that goes into more detail. That's what we want to import into the notes. Otherwise, we have to always use the system in combination with the catalogue for more information. Adagio has space available under notes to put it, but unfortunately, if we can't import it, it's too time consuming.

What reason is it that we can't we import notes? We can import customer notes in AR. Inventory is way harder for us to maintain that customers.

Hi Susan,

By "the system" you mean "Adagio Inventory"? Do you really want to import a Note (which has a date field and a UserId and scrolls down the chronology) or an Additional Comment (which stays "front and centre)?

With dual monitors, someone could cut and paste the descriptions into the Notes as they are accessing the different items. Where are the descriptions going to be maintained? Where do the descriptions originate?

We could add "Import Notes" if you need it urgently, and as Doug mentioned, an Adagio consultant could probably get the notes loaded using GridView Read-Write but it's probably a day or two's work depending on the number of items.

Hi Andrew,

Yes, by "the system" I meant, Adagio Inventory.

We do not want a note with a date and user ID. We just want to import a few paragraphs into the current IC notes area the way it is.

For example:

Where it says, Notes/Additional Comments we want to import this text:

One pair Choice Select Indoor/Outdoor Speakers. With a 5 inch woofer and 1/2 inch tweeter, these speakers really perform. Use them indoors or in a protected outdoor location. The swivel mount can be used to hang the speakers vertically, horizontally, or to support them on a shelf. Black molded plastic enclosure, also available in white.

Added:

The descriptions originate from our manufacturers price lists.

OK. I tried something for fun. I did a screen capture of the page describing the speaker and pasted it as the image in Adagio. Voila - the picture and the text, all in one convenient place!

It could work... it's something we never thought of. An option to consider for sure. Still, the ability to import notes in IC would be very useful, so I hope you will consider adding it.

We have an overwhelming amount of work ahead of us to get Adagio Inventory set up with the information our sales people need.

Hi Susan,

That an Import Notes feature is not available (yet) in Adagio Inventory is not an intentional exclusion, but rather that a feature was first added to a particular application (Receivables) and has not (yet) made it to other applications. I don't believe any other Adagio program other than AR has an Import Notes feature at this time.
