Dear John

It seems highly unlikely that Adagio would cause problems in tax calculations that only show up in QIP DOS processes, even if using the same data.

There are no known issues in this regard, and although I did not test this with the old (discontinued) version of QIP, I did test it using the most current release (V6.7A 001122) of QIP using data that had not been previously used with Adagio Invoices (again, a current release 6.8A 011205). I could not duplicate this.

To rule out some obvious influences, perhaps you could suggest the following elimination processes:
1. Do a backup of the data first, then do a data integrity check on the data with Adagio - it does a more thorough check than the WSM DIC. (Since Adagio DIC works differently than WSM does, you must to do one in Invoices to check the invoices data and a separate one in Receivables to check the AR data.) If errors are found, you can click the Rebuild button to see if Adagio is able to fix them and repeat the DIC to see if it was successful.

2. Perform the same procedure using the sample data that QIP installs. Create a WSM Start List item for QIP that points to ASP\Samdata\Softrak\QI. Try the same procedure you are using for your live data to see if you can duplicate it.

3. If all looks good at this point, now - open Adagio Invoices and select this same sample data to open. If you get a prompt for the TASKS and Currency file location, enter x:\ASP for both, where 'x' represents the drive where your ACCPAC programs are installed. You may also get a message about a missing Search Header data file - this is normal.

Depending on your findings, please get back to us if you still have a problem.

Try to determine if this just occurs with one batch or a specific invoice within the archived batch.

The other thing you can try is to restore the archived batch, then re-archive it using either Adagio or QIP to see if this resolves it.

Regards,

Hi again John

I did some research. The only past issue that I can find that sounds similar is:

Resolved in QIP6.7A (001122) When Update Archive was run on invoices with Inventory Control items, tax was recalculated incorrectly in some cases. This has been corrected.

Needless to say, since the problem does not exist in Adagio Invoices, I would suggest moving up the date in which they start to go 'live' with Adagio - at least with Invoices. There should be no issues using Invoices with their other ACCPAC Plus modules.

The only other suggestion I can offer is for them to NOT edit the archive batches, but to move them to the open area, do their modifications, then move them back to the archive area. This way, all they have to do when they are ready to invoice, is to restore the archived invoice(s) - no editing will be required.

This is all we can offer - since the current releases no longer have the problem, and it seems pointless to upgrade their version of QIP when they already have Adagio Invoices installed and running.

Regards

Hello John,

I assume we're talking about Quik Invoice Plus (the DOS version, not the Windows version).

My guess is that there are integrity errors in the archive batch(es) that are not being detected, or are only surfacing when they are fixed by Adagio Invoices. Over the last few years we have fixed several issues in the tax calculations of invoices (which might not have been apparent in your taxing jurisdiction). To the extent that a batch manipulated by Adagio Invoices prints and posts correctly from Adagio Invoices, and a batch manipulated with Quik Invoice Plus works fine if Adagio Invoices is not used, then this is only an interaction between modules running in different environments. Just stop using Quik Invoice Plus (or Adagio Invoices) to make these price changes.

Hi John

This is really starting to surpass Tech Support's realms - I understand what you are saying, and issues like this are why R&D develops upgrades and ptfs. There are no outstanding issues in this respect - your client is using an out of date product.

Again, I followed the steps you outlined and could not duplicate the problem. Obviously, you have spent time determining what seems to cause the problem - so based on your excellent details, we provided a couple of resolutions - however, because of the unique situation, another workaround I'd like to suggest is for your client to keep using only QIP to edit the archive batches on 'live' data until they are ready to start using Adagio exclusively. They can then use Adagio for the other functions. Since they seem to be toggling back and forth anyway, I do not see this as a problem.

In your earlier post, you indicated that Adagio did not exhibit the same problem when editing the archive batches - the actual issue occurs only when going back into QIP. This seems to indicate that the older version of QIP is suspect, not the more current Adagio.

There are many suggestions that have been given to try to work with your client here.

To work 'seamlessly' would be to upgrade the much older 1998 release of QIP so that it is one that has no known issues. (As a matter of fact, the first release of Adagio Invoices did not even come out until 1999!) Much has changed since then in both products to enhance them as well as fix previously reported issues.

I hope one of the suggestions we have provided will be a suitable solution to workaround this until they are ready to 'go live'.

If you have further questions regarding this, please feel free to contact Andrew Bates at abates@softrak.com .

Sincerely,
