I created a Gridview and under file/print setup, I selected Landscape. I saved the .gv and the .gvs workspace then copied the files to OEWIN/Views. When I run the view from OE from my computer and print preview, it's landscape. When I run the view from OE from anyone else's computer, it's portrait. How can I save the print setup option "landscape" for all users?

Hi Susan,

I see the same behavior as you do, but I don't have a resolution. Further, if the View is commonly used from the network and one size/orientation is saved, it does not transfer when the exact view is loaded by another workstation. I will forward your concerns to the programmers for investigation.

Do both workstations use the same printer driver?

GridView relies on the Windows registry more than other Adagio programs do, so I wonder if that is related.

Hi Susan,

Are you sure that the View/Workspace you are running from your workstation is the one you saved in OEWIN\Views? To make sure, launch the one from OrderEntry | Views.

I'm pretty sure that the setting won't be in the registry, since that would mean a separate entry for every possible workspace/View you might create.

However, it's possible that the behaviour changes for users that are not allowed to edit Views. Are all your Users allowed to edit the GridView Views when they are launched from within an Adagio module?

None of the users are allowed to edit views. The behaviour is inconsistent. I have it working now for most. Allowing users to edit gridview then saving and resaving over the same files then removing their ability to edit, etc... until it works.

I take it back.. it's working on some of the users, but now my user has reverted to portrait. I'm going in circles.

Yes.. I'm certain that I'm using the same data file from each user.

I'm also getting this error for all users when closing the program, although it doesn't seem to do any harm:

Can you post which version of GridView you're using? We'll see what we can find.

I have to admit, we have not spent much time on GridView printing, as we assumed that users were sending the results to Excel.

After a little testing, I bet you'll find that the workstations are using different default printers.

If you choose a specific printer for the View, then you'll find that the orientation will stick. When I changed the default printer for the workstation, then the View reverted to the default orientation for the default printer.

We'll discuss whether that's the behaviour that makes sense. I'm not sure it is.

Hi Andrew,

We're using 9.0D (110828). Yes, users are set up with different default printers, based on their location in the building. I think it's working now (as far as I know). We have a few Gridview reports that we need to produce fast and then print to .pdf and email out so our sales reps in the field have the information they need to do their work. We don't have time to export to Excel, format and print and there's no need to since I created the Gridview to filter all the information they're looking for.

The next version of GridView will store the print orientation with the View. Thanks for pointing this out.

Hi Susan,

The recently release GridView 9.0E now stores the page orientation with the View, not with the printer. This should fix this problem.
