This should serve as a warning to anyone who still has any PCs on a Win2000 platform. The latest Inventory upgrade (110713) that was just sent out does not work for Win2000. Once you upgrade, you CANNOT get into ANY Adagio packages on that particular PC.

***Softrak does not give any warning about this!!!***

I have been told that to re-establish a working Adagio system, one has to re-install an older version of ALL Adagio packages from scratch. Had I known this, I probably would not have done the upgrade now.

Hi, John,

We no longer do testing on really old software versions. We haven't published that Adagio Inventory is compatible with Windows 2000 since before IC8.1A(20090217).

You'll find that we do publish this information in a Compatibility topic available from within a module (select Help, Readme from the menu), from a link provided within the install and within the product's release notes available on our website. We also have a Compatibility link on our website's home page wherein we publish current compatibility with various operating systems. Select the Windows 2000 link on that page and you will immediately find that we state, "The Windows 2000 workstation will no longer be a supported platform for Adagio in future releases (any release after January 1, 2009)". Here is a link to that page:

http://www.softrak.com/products/compatibility/compatibility.php

How you want to proceed now will probably depend on if your data has already been converted to the new version or not, and if you're willing to upgrade that PC to a more current Windows operating system. Currently, Adagio supports Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. You may want to discuss options with your Adagio consultant.

Hi Softrak Support, We have been very VERY happy with the Adagio packages since we installed them in 2005. We have them installed on 2x Win 2000 PCs and 3x Win XP PCs. To date, and including the IC8.1A(20090217)update you refer to, we have had no problems with the functionality of the system at all. With this latest IC update, my Win2000 PCs no longer have ANY Adagio functionality what-so-ever. My Adagio consultant tells me that I either have to update the PCs or fully reinstall an older version of Adagio from scratch, with either option incurring some expense.

I have read your Compatibility link now, frankly I was unaware it was there. However, that said, I think it would be so simple to include a proactive warning statement in your emailed Update notices to the effect that "WinXX operating system is no longer compatible with this update. Updating will cause non-functionality of the Adagio system." If I had known that I could not use my older Win2000 PCs (which work just fine BTW, and did so with Adagio up until this recent update this week), I would not have updated this particular package.

Hello John,

We have now had confirmation from another site that Adagio does not run on Windows 2000, a desktop operating system that Microsoft has not support for many years and does not issue security patches for. We have updated our compatibility page to reflect this news. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, but I'm sure that you can appreciate that we cannot test our releases on all possible obsolete platforms our clients might be using.

It is nice to hear that you've been happy with Adagio all these years though. Thanks.
