Hi, Carla,
While you were able to create entries for the closed job, Adagio does not permit posting to the closed job. The error message you saw was when you tried to post the batch and you would have had to respond to the message before continuing. Rather than posting, the entries to the closed job would create an error batch that could be edited before reposting.
To reopen the closed job, you do have to use the Close Jobs function. However, you need to do more than just click it. When you edit the closed job, you receive a message that the job has been closed. The only active field on the Close Job window in the 'Close Date' field and this is where the edit focus is. Remove the date and click Okay.
I'll beef up the JobCost help on the Close Jobs Function to better reflect these steps.
Archiving jobs creates a copy of the job. This can be done at any time.
The way to remove a job from the Jobs window is to recognize revenue, ensure there are no pending change orders and close the job. Then, you can run the Delete Closed Jobs function from the Maintenance menu. You might use the Delete button on the Jobs window if you added a job and no other activity (including estimates) has occurred within it.
