We just upgraded to BankRec 8.1C and now cannot preview or print reports, etc. The status shoes "printing" but the document does not display (if preview is selected) nor does it go to the printer? Has anyone seen this? Is it a bug?

Can you print anything? Can you print anything from an Adagio module? Can you print any report from Adagio BankRec? Can you print an Adagio BankRec form?

I can preview/print reports from Payables and Ledger but not BankRec. We cannot print retrieved batches in BankRec either. We are experiencing this problem on a Windows 2008 64bit server. Our users run Adagio on it using Terminal Services. When we connect to a Windows 2003 server, however, we are able to print from BankRec.

Does the application appear to try and print? Can you print preview the report?

It does appear to try and print. The same thing happens when preview is selected. It displays the box showing "printing", then that box closes but the report does not open.

Please run Help | System Status and see if there are any complaints about the way Adagio is installed. It doesn't sound like the Upgrade was installed correctly.

System Status reports 1 error:

C:\Windows\Crystal\P2IRSSI.CFG
Date: [03/11/2010] Error: Needs: [12/20/2010]

How should I go about resolving this?

As this is a local file, run the workstation setup with appropriate rights to replace files in the C:\windows\crystal directory. This would be ..\softrak\brwin\wksetup\wksetup.exe.

Can you preview the Company Profile report? This is the 'simplest' report in any Adagio program. If so, then the problem could be an incorrect installation of tables, or the workstation is not able to create temporary workfile for reports that require them, such as batch listings, posting journals or transaction reports.

Do you have other programs on your workstation that use the Crystal Reports engine for printing? BankRec 8.1C is the first Adagio release that uses the 8.5 version of the print engine to print reports.

The file "P2IRSSI.cfg" located in C:\Windows\Crystal on the Terminal Services server has a date of "12/20/2010" which is the date Adagio reports that it needs. I cannot preview the Company Profile report. Also, we got the following error when trying to print the posting journal from that server “Report file J:/Softrak/BRwin/StandRP/Brbpbank.rpt not found.” The file is indeed there and the report can be printed from another Terminal Services server. I did rerun the workstation install, but that did not resolve the issue.

Yes, we do have another program running on that server that uses the Crystal engine. We are able to print reports from that program.

Is there anything else we can do?

Thnx.

Hi Janelle,

Unfortunately, problems of this type are very difficult to diagnose on the forum. Is there someone familiar with your Adagio configuration closer to home that could give you a hand?

After pondering the description of the problem, have you made certain that the drive letter that each Adagio workstation uses to access the Adagio programs is identical, even for the session that is actually running on the server? After making sure that this is the case, re-install the BankRec Upgrade and see if it fixes anything.

As discussed some time ago, the C:\windows\crystal folder needed to be copied to the \%UserPROFILE%\windows\crystal folder to allow this to work in Terminal Services.

This will be done automatically for you if you are using Adagio BankRec 8.1C (2011.11.08) or later. This is from the release notes and the readme for this release:

BankRec 8.1C was updated from version 7 to version 8.5 of the Crystal Reports print engine. When installing Adagio for use with Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008 and previous versions), this necessitated manually copying the crystal folder from the main windows folder to the windows under each user. For example, on Server 2003 you had to copy the crystal folder from C:\windows\ to C:\Documents and Settings\username\windows. This is no longer required. The install and workstation installs will do the copy. The BankRec program will also do the copy if possible, which will avoid the need to do a workstation install in some cases.
