On the Properties of the GridView shortcut and the Target field, you need to include a \c parameter after the path to gvwin.exe. It's purpose is to allow you to set up Views but not allow anyone to mistakenly edit them.

Just a FYI that this is designed to increase the security around GridView, so that you can make Views for staff that they cannot modify. You cannot launch GridView by double clicking on the .EXE and create your own Views, you have to launch from a shortcut. The installed shortcuts on your Start List have the /c parameter included.

You must have been reading an earlier manual (as this parameter changed). Download the current version of the DOC file, it has the correct parameters.
