Good Morning!

Just working on streamlining our user groups and security settings within our Adagio modules. Have a couple of questions:

1) I'd like only a select group of people to have the ability to add new customers to our data base, or to have the ability to edit an existing customer. However, if I then untick the box to edit a customer, that means no one other than the select group can add notes to a customer's file. If there any way to differentiate between editing customers, and making notes? Everyone in our admin/sales area should be making notes on customers, but not everyone in this group should be adding new customers, or changing things about existing customers. Is there a way to do this?

2) Again with the security settings. If I create a group for Sales CQ to NOT have the ability to edit a customer (I untick Customers under Edit in the security setting) it then disables the person's ability to do a scan. Is there a way to have an employee have the ability to scan data, but not to change a customer's info?

Thanks so much.

Barb

Hi Barb,

1) Yes, there is a particular security option in Groups for Adagio Receivables called Edit Customer Notes. If a group is set to not allow access to the Edit Customers function, but does have access to Inquiries / Customers, then you will see an 'Edit Notes' button that will allow precisely what you want to do. This option also flows to other applications that allow editing customers, such as Order Entry and SalesCQ.

2) Because the Scan function in Adagio SalesCQ also allows editing Customers or Prospects, we chose to disable the Edit button if security prevented access to either one. It's a little trickier when there are two different places where Edit can access (Customers / Prospects). I can forward your suggestion on to the programmers. If we were to add an option like this, it would have to prevent access to editing both customers and prospects - it couldn't allow one and not the other. It probably would have to disallow the Transfer function of turning a Prospect into a Customer as well.
