My office recently upgraded and our dealer installed Adagio on our server instead of on each of the three computers using Adagio. After the installation was complete our systems have been painfully slow. We apparently have the latest and quickest server so I am not sure what the problem is, can you suggest anything? I was told that maybe it was our firewalls that are installed on each computer and on the server but no other suggestions other than that. I would like to keep adagio on our server but I am not sure if I can continue to work at this slow pace.

The number one usual culprit for slow performance is usually anti-virus software. Make a copy of your data on your local PC and launch Adagio and have it open you local copy. The performance on your local machine should only be 3-4 times faster than your network. If it's different by a factor of 10 then there is a network problem to be resolved.

While network access is usually quite a bit slower than stand-alone access, bear in mind that the vast majority of Adagio users work via server/network access. If it's slow to the point that you don't want to work with it something is wrong, you should not have to resort back.

As Andrew pointed out, AV (or Internet Security) software is usually the culprit and if in use, the accounting program and data paths should be "exceptions" to the background/memory resident/on access/real-time/whatever your product calls it scanning of the AV component. Sometimes the Firewall component can be the issue as well.

However it could be a host of other things and you may need to work with an Adagio Consultant in tandem with your Network Administrator/Consultant to resolve the issue.

Good luck, Pete

Are you on a 10/100 LAN or gigabit? Gigabit LAN made a world of difference for us.
