Using the AP Check Designer, I have created a spec for a Check/Advice on a 7" form. When I print the check the advice prints onto 2 full A size pages. I am using an Epson LQ-570e printer and three-part check forms.

The "End of page" marker in the Check Designer does not seem to work.

Hi edgurr,

The 'end of page' section in an Adagio Specification Designer is not meant to force a page break. It's purpose is to visually identify the section height of the last section in your specification.

Because you are printing to a dot matrix printer with a custom (7") for size, you have to edit the page size on the specification itself (in File / Specification Options) to a custom 7" size as well. Also, your printer driver for the dot matrix printer has to support the 7" page size, and your printer must be able to form feed 7".

If your printer hardware does not support the 7" page length, you may not be able to get a Windows application to print to that page size. You probably should be in contact with your Adagio consultant to assist in determining if you can get what you want, or decide that laser printed checks work better than expensive pre-printed dot matrix forms.

Hello Edgurr:
In your situation, you have 3 choices:

1) If you understand Tech Support's explanation, have some technical skills and LOTS of time and patience, you will eventually be able to print onto a 7" dot matrix cheque.

2) You can pay your Adagio consultant to do the sweating and cursing to make the cheque printing work on the dot matrix.

3) Switch to laser-printed cheques. This is the option that will cause you the least frustration and almost always be the cheapest (given that your time has a cost to it).

Some firms have valid reasons for using dot matrix cheques. However the "I have 3 boxes in the cupboard" rationale is not one of them. People have a strange emotional attachment to their stock of cheques. What's a box of cheques worth? 100.00? You will spend much more than that getting dot matrix cheques to work with any Windows-based accounting system like Adagio.
