I am trying to import a batch into my g/l and have had trouble for the last 2+ months. First it was giving me error messages about field # etc. and today it says "The file layout for c:\cash sheets 5th\oct\etc.xls is incorrect. Import is cancelled." The file layout has not changed for 5+ years nothing is different as far as I can tell. I have checked everything. What can I do to make this work?

Hi Angel,

Adagio Ledger 9.0C uses a different method for importing Excel files such as batches or accounts. The initial release of Ledger 9.0C sometimes recognized a blank column as not being blank, often because it was edited and cleared but not deleted.

The most recent service pack for Ledger 9.0C should fix this issue. All you should need to do is download and install the service pack. Here is the text from the release notes in regard to this issue:

"The new import/export engine used to interface with Excel in Ledger 9.0C gave an error during import if the number of columns in the import file and the template did not match. The error is no longer given if the number of columns in the import file is greater than the number in the template, as users may create a spreadsheet with more columns initially and then delete the values in the columns rather than deleting the actual columns."

When you say import are you referring to retrieving a batch form an Adagio subledger or physically importing a file from an external sourse?

Which version of Ledger are you using?

This message generally means that there is something wrong with the file being retrieved/imported.
