I have found that if I run Order Entry directly from the server, everything is lightning fast. I've transferred some files to and from my server and average roughly 12MB/sec (nearly the full potential of the 100Mb routers and switches). Is it time for Gigabit? or maybe some weird latency issue?

Everthing on your network should be at the Gigabit level, 100Mb equipment is not up to the job.

Upgraded everything to Gigabit this morning. Runs easily 3 times as fast!

Since running into this problem with OE 8.1D, as per Softrak's instructions we moved thousands of invoices out of current. We now have only 7 days worth of current invoices. Unfortunately it is still a problem for our high volume account. In the last 7 days we have over 674 invoices for this particular customer. When entering a new order, it takes 5 or more seconds to open and about the same or more to post. Our staff are complaining that their jobs are taking them excessively longer than before. They keep getting a message that says, "processing credit check".

Is there a way to deselect this credit check on current invoices? Or can we remove the credit check altogether for selected customers? I can try keeping only 1 days worth of current invcoices to see if that helps?

Please advise.

P.S. We already have a gigabit lan.

Hi Susan,

There is an option in the OE Company Profile to 'include orders in credit check'. Try disabling this option, if it has been enabled. This totals all outstanding orders for the customer and includes this amount to determine if the customer is over their credit limit.

Any invoices or credit notes that have yet to be processed by Day End will automatically be included, and there is no option to disable this. Typically there is not as high a volume of shipped invoices that have yet to be Day Ended.

You can disable the credit check for specific TERMS codes.

The plot thickens...

This customer is already set up with a terms code that is set to skip the credit check. frown

Hmm - perhaps this flag is not being checked in the new feature.

OrderEntry 8.1D is correctly not displaying the credit check screen if a customer is over the credit limit, and the terms code on the customer is defined to skip the check.

There is something else happening; perhaps the timing of what is checked for and when OE knows it can skip it. In order to change this, we'd have to do something in a future service pack.
