I have been noticing with every update to Adagio our system seems to run slower. We updated to Order Entry 8.1D over the weekend. The process of invoicing seems to have more than doubled in time.

This is the process of simply double clicking on a order (takes 8-10 seconds versus about 2 in the previous version).
Clicking "OK" (takes another 8-10 seconds versus about 2).
The actual invoicing after that is a lot FASTER actually. But the whole process is about 2x-3x times a long.

This is combined with importing 100s of orders from our website which need to simply be double clicked on followed by pressing "OK" to invoice (no bulk invoicing in Order Entry). BTW I am looking into Adagio Invoices for this process.

Any tips for speed drop offs in new versions?

Nick,
Check if you have the option 'Check for duplicate reference' turned on. If you have it turned on try turning it off and see what the speed difference is.

Nick:

Which version of OE did you upgrade from? Did you upgrade any other modules at the same time.

Every upgrade of ADagio adds new features, therefore more overhead. Older computers or those with less than 2GB of RAM can be a problem if you have skipped a number of upgrades.

Chris, I do not have "Check for duplicate reference" checked on.

Douglas, I am running on a quad core @ 3.5Ghz with 8 GB DDR3 and a SSD. Our server is a bit dated though! 2x Xeon 3.0Ghz (Pentium 4 era) and 2GB RAM.

Probably not enough horsepower on the server (RAM specifically). Also, how fast is the network? The faster the better.

Also, which version were you coming from?

We are experiencing the same problem as Nick describes but only for one particular customer's Invoices. If we double click on an Order/Invoice/Credit for any other customer, it's fast (1-2 seconds). However, if we double click on an Invoice for this one customer (who happens to be a very high volume account with thousands of invoices in history), it takes more than 10 seconds to open any of their invoices.

Hi Susan,
If this is happening for a single high volumne customer, look to see if you have 'Include orders in credit check' option turned on in the company profile.

"Include orders in credit check" is not checked and neither is "Check for duplicate reference".

Hi Susan,

Here's the reason V 8.1D is slower than V8.1C:
Quote:

a. New Feature: The over credit limit check calculation now includes invoices and credit notes for which Day End has not yet been run. Includes payments and taxes.

With large numbers of completed invoices in your current file, they must each be read and perhaps added to the outstanding customer balance to determine if the customer is over their credit limit. Keeping the number of documents in the "Current" file to a minimum will speed up this process.

This feature was added as a result of many customer requests and to make the management of credit limits more accurate.

I printed all Invoices to Softrak Softfax today and they now have the status "Invoice Printed". Hopefully they'll move out of current after day end?
