I recently changed the hard drive to a solid state drive on our peer-to-peer server using Acronis Easy Migrate to copy the contents of the previous drive. The new drive works perfectly and of course is much faster. However, I noticed that our Adagio programs are no longer listed in the Add-Remove programs list under the Control Panel in W7 Pro on the new hard disk. Toolkit by Dakota Software is installed in the same Softrak directory and it remains on the list along with all of our other programs and Toolkit also has an uninstall listed in its menu program group which our Adagio programs do not have.

Are there any files I can copy over from the old hard disk while it is still unchanged so that the Adagio programs can be removed in case of problems in the future?

Hi Rick

While I don't know the answer to your specific question, I can tell you that I would NEVER uninstall Adagio from the Add-Remove programs list under Control Panel. Unlike most programs that workstations run, Adagio program files are installed on the server, so uninstalling it from one workstation would uninstall it from ALL workstations.

So, in my opinion, it's not a problem that Adagio doesn't appear in the programs list; in fact it's a plus.

Steve

Hello Steve,

This computer is the server and not a workstation and I would like the option to remove a program if a reinstall is necessary.

Regards,

Rick

Hi Rick,

Sounds like an issue with Acronis Easy Migrate. I haven't used that particular program, but I have used Acronis True Image with Universal Restore which is the same sort of idea (restore an entire system to new hardware). Last time I used this I had the same thing happen - some, but not all programs made it to the Add/Remove programs list in the CP.

As Steve mentioned, not having Adagio listed won't cause you any issues in actually using Adagio - it's easier to simply rename the module folders in the Softrak directory should you need to reinstall. This way you can preserve settings and license information.

If you really want them listed in Add/Remove, I suspect you're going to have to reinstall each module on the new system.
