Hi All,

To what extent are bar codes available for use in Adagio POs?

We have a vendor that we receive multiple parts from, multiple times a day, in multiple facilities. It becomes a big task pretty quickly to create these POs.

We're already using the quick receipt / receive all function to speed up that side of things, but are looking at quicker ways of creating a PO.

Thanks,

Please explain further how you envision bar codes assisting you to auto generate PO's.

There is an auto generate function in purchase orders that does not require bar codes but I'm thinking this would not work in your scenario.

This may not be a straight forward enough question to be answered i this forum.

Hey Doug,

There are a couple of hundred parts that we order from this vendor - mostly general stuff (screw, bolts, ear plugs, brooms, cleaning supplies etc).

I would like to have a small booklet with all these parts in it. Then our purchasers could just simply scan all the items they need to order and enter the quantities.

Is there any bar code / scanning functionality with POs?

Thanks,

When the cursor is in the item number field in POA you can scan a bar code and the value of that code will be input to the item number field. Users can then tab through to qty/cost fields as required. You'd need the bar codes to consist of the item number as it is entered in IC (won't work if bardcode is of a vendor's item number, etc).

As long as the bar code matches the sundry item number. Often, the bar codes on packaging represent a vendor or manufacturer's item number, so you may need to produce your own bar codes, coded to your sundry item numbering scheme. Your dealer should be able to do this for you using Crystal Reports.

If you want to just use an order booklet you can set this up with your own bar codes to match your Sundry item numbers.

This will only automate the task to keying in the item code but will not really save a lot of time as time will be lost finding the correct bar code to scan. There may be other solutions that better automate this for you but this would require further investigation.
