Just upgraded to AP 8.1C and I can't log on using my sign in or SYS sign in. All I get is a box with "sign on failed". Help please!

Hi,

Upgrading the program will not affect your ability to log into Adagio.

I know that we can all sometimes get this error if we make a minor typo when logging on.

There is a file in your data folder called ADSPROF.xxx (where 'xxx' is the 3-character data extension your organization uses). You can open this file using Notepad or any other text editor. With the file open, note the Task= path information. The path that displays here should be set to point to the folder your company's userlist is stored in. This is usually x:\Softrak\System or sometimes x:\ASP.

I did double check my log in, but no typos. I'll check the ADSPROF file and see what I find. Thanks.

Found the ADSPROF.XXX (DAT) file in adagio\ASP folder. But, don't know if this is what it should be. S: is my server.

[ADS]
Currency=S:\SOFTRAK\SYSTEM
Task=S:\SOFTRAK\SYSTEM
[Data]
GL=@L90A
AP=@P80A
[Home Decimals]
@L90A=2
@P80A=2
[Cost Decimals]

Just got a call from my bookkeeper who logs on to my adagio server remotely. She gets the same error message when she tries to log on to the general ledger. She was having problems earlier today (program froze and she couldn't log off). Should I try rebooting my server?

Okay, assuming that the userlist is stored in Softrak\System, this looks good.

I'm wondering. When the install was done, were there any messages about temp files or any error messages received? It's possible that one or more files weren't updated properly for some reason.

The names and dates of the dictionary files that AP8.1C installs to the Softrak\Dict folder on the server are as follows:

@P81BR.ssi 7/21/2010
@P81BI.ssi 7/20/2010
@@81AR.ssi 7/20/2010
@@81AI.ssi 7/20/2010
EZ61AR.SSI 5/11/2010
EZ61AI.SSI 4/28/2010

Do you have each of these files with the same dates as indicated in your Softrak\Dict folder?

The ADSPROF.XXX you are looking for is the one in your data folder. It is very unlikley that your data is in adagio\ASP.

Please check that you have opened the correct APSPROF.
Also check that you are attempting to open the correct data folder.

Given the 'program froze' problem it would not hurt to reboot both the server and workstations.

This may be a problem best handled by your Adagio consultant. He or she should be able to zero in on the real issue very quickly.

I do have all those files with today's date.

I had to cancel my initial install because I got a "files in use" message (can't remember file names). Turns out my bookkeeper who accesses server remotely was unable to log off this morning and I had to use terminal services manager to boot her off. Then I went back and started and completed the install.

Hi, Carol,

You need to know which or what is your actual data folder. Does the s:\softrak\data ADSPROF file also include the [Data], [Home Decimals] and [Cost Decimals] sections? If not, I suspect that the other folder is your data folder but all we can do from here is surmise based on the information you provide.

Doug has some good points. If a file(s) has been held open by a process and is interfering in some way, you may need to reboot the workstations and/or server to release the file(s). Your Adagio consultant is best able to assist you in many cases.

However, if your consultant is on vacation and you can provide detailed information, we can all try to give you assistance.
