We are using Accpac version 6.5

I went away on vacation earlier this month and when I returned I found that someone had a problem printing reports at my terminal (all it was was the F3 function was set to print to file). In the process of trying to fix the printing problem, they somehow deleted all the history in Quik Reports. The information is still in Quik History and the subledger, and Quik Reports still has all the report specs but when I generate a report it only has the information I've posted since my return. It almost looks like the database was wiped clean.

Is there any way to retrieve the history in Quik Reports without having to restore a backup and losing everything I've entered since then?

Thanks

Kim

Hi Kim

QR does not retain any historical data from other applications - that is, it extracts the data from the applications' used in the report at the time of printing.

If you can see all the data when you go into Quik History, then your report should be able to print it. Some things to look for are:

1. Perhaps somebody tampered with the actual report - i.e. is there a selection formula that could be restricting the date range on the reported data?

2. Check the linking on your report, perhaps something was changed.

3. Did anybody re-install QR to see if it would resolve the printing problem? If so, QH must be reinstalled again as well to restore the report tables correctly.

The proper install order is:
i) ACCPAC Plus core modules (GL, AR, AP, IC etc.),
ii) Quik Reports,
iii) 3rd Party applications (Softrak Sales Analysis, IR, QIP etc) and finally,
iv) Quik History (ALWAYS last).

As I indicated above, if you can see all the data (history) that you need in QH, then there is no need to restore a backup of this data - however, if the report itself has been modified inadvertently in your absence, and is now not working as expected - you could go to the most recent backup you have to extract and restore just the QR data files, so that you can get the report working the way it used to. Before doing this, however, I would rename (or make a copy of) all your existing QR*.dat files.

Hope this helps!
