My database is a carry-over from ACCPAC.

I have always just used the SYS User since I am the only one in accounting.

Recently, I have been having many problems when I am signed in as SYS. I created a new User and all those problems are gone.

I would like to delete the SYS User but I can't. I can't replace it either.

I really want to get rid of this User. It is causing bizarre problems.

Why do I need to keep it?

Can you describe what problems you are having? Perhaps there are settings that can be reset for the SYS user. There are many options that are saved on a user-by-user basis.

The SYS user is reserved for the System Administrator and cannot be deleted. If we allowed this then it is possible to get into a situation that no-one could get into Adagio, because SYS will be guaranteed to have full access.

The most recent was today.
I was trying to do a cheque run and it would let me reset the cheque number to 2685 but then in the First Cheque box, it showed 26.

Then after the cheque run, the cheques were numbered .26, 1.26 etc.

Yesterday, I tried to create a batch from an archived batch and kept getting error messages that there were no headers etc etc...then it created a zero dollar batch with nothing in it.

I have been having trouble pulling batches in to TB from AP. As the new user, I can pull in the batch I couldn't pull in as SYS.

Problems in the GL..transactions fail to merge during posting causing a BIG mess.

Thank you for the information.

The reason for this is that you have installed the Ledger 90C update that now includes User Preferences. There is an option to allow 'Implied decimals' for entering numbers, so that typing 1234 is interpreted as 12.34 instead of 1234.00. This is set on each user and has effect in all Adagio programs with recent releases.

Unexpectedly, this affects the check number in Adagio Payables 8.1B when printing. The solution here is to open Ledger 90C and access the User Preferences, then turn off the Implied Decimal option. We'll need to make a fix to Payables so that the check number is not affected by the Implied Decimal setting.

Perhaps the other problems are based on the same issue? I am surprised about the other issues being dependant on the user, but thank you for letting us know. Could you confirm whether those problems go away when Implied Decimal is removed?

Since I don't wnat to use the SYS User, How do I change the Default User so I don't have to type in my User name every time I sign on. Although I have Remember Name ticked off, it always comes up SYS.

Data Integrity check says everything is fine by the way. I run it frequently.

Do you set the user ID on the shortcut used for starting Adagio? Edit the shortcut properties (right-click on the shortcut and pick properties), and on the Target, look for a parameter such as /uSYS after the program name. Remove it (or change it to the user ID you want).

The 'Remember User' checkbox on the login screen links your Windows login to the Adagio login. Perhaps try disabling this checkbox the next time you use Adagio, and then the time after that the setting may get reset. Then you can use the other user ID.

Please let us know if removing Implied Decimals has an affect on the issues you reported (other than the check number scenario, which we were aware of).

Thank you. Maybe you should send an email. My cheque rec is going to be a MESS. I'm glad I have preprinted cheques.

I'll let you know about the GL problem but I can tell you it has never happened before (20 years) and it happened at least twice in the April.

Yes, so long ago I forgot. Thank you.

I don't think I'll be testing out the GL problem soon...what a mess. I had to restore from backup and lost a day's worth of data...

Thanks for your prompt assistance.
