setting rights for users. We want to clean up our rights areas & I wondered if there was a index or document that would relate permissions to functions. For example to do a day end you need certain permissions to print purge etc. We have "edit customer" that allows delete customer that we would prefer to not allow except for special users. This is only an example. If there was a "site map, or function map " available it would eliminate some guess work.
Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce,

For the most part, security is menu choice based. Groups are given access to menu choices. User are made members of a group. If you have edit rights, then you have delete rights. In each module, there are usually a few extra options. For instance, you can grant a group permission to modify the notes for a customer, but nothing else.

Is there a list that defines the group options? "Text Blocks" shows up on various edit permisssion lists ... what is it? same for a few others. Short of going into the group & turning the permission on /off & then looking at what it affects in the module I have no point of reference.

What module are we talking about? Security is set by menu function and refers to the module's menu choice. Additional security is available in OrderEntry through the entry template definition which is also associated with a group.

Hi Bruce,

A 'Text block' in Adagio OrderEntry is a set of text lines, which could be an Instruction or a Comment. The main purpose is to be able to insert a standard pre-defined set of text onto an order without having to re-type it for every order. Also multiple lines for a large amount of text, without having to insert a new Comment or Instruction line every 80 characters.

Text blocks don't have to be pre-defined, so if you add a new text block to an order, you can simply type new text and are not force to select an existing text block code.

Also, some applications have a Security Group listing report and others do not. If one is available, when you open the Security Group function, a Listing button can print the report.

Order Entry does not have this yet. Ledger and Receivables do.
