I currently use Adagio OE Version 8.1C, Receivables 9.0A, and Inventory 8.1B.

On 23 February we processed a 2 page invoice from OE with 38 line items (page 1 with 20 lines and page 2 with 18). After printing the invoice we noticed that only page 1 was printed with only 14 lines. (Page 2 did not print) However the printed ejected the invoice and another invoice started printing.

We reprinted the invoice and both pages 1 and 2 printed with all the line items on.

The same thing happened again on 1 April. This time it was a 1 page invoice with 8 line items. Only 1 line item printed, and the total at the bottom of the page was for the 1 item only. The other 7 lines did not print. Again the printed ejected the invoice and another invoice started printing.

We reprinted the invoice and all 8 lines printed with the correct total for the 8 items.

Can someone help?

Hi Ruth,

OK, so on two occasions the print job for a particular invoice did not print the complete list of items, but attempting to reprint the same invoice was successful. That would indicate that the invoice information in the data is intact and something random occurred in those two instances.

How do you print invoices - from the grid that lists invoices or the Print Invoices function from the menu?
Are there other users in OE? Are they also printing invoices?
Could the print job have become corrupted, or the printer got out of memory due to a large print run?
Were there any error messages?
Do you use the option to 'Suppress zero qty on invoices' in the Company Profile? On these two invoices did the missing items have 0 qty shipped?
Does your invoice specification have multiple copies?

I did a search and couldn't find anything related to missing items on printed invoices. As long as the invoice data is intact and the problem happens infrequently, my first suspicion is that something interrupted sending the complete invoice to the printer, due to a network or printer backlog. If you can replicate the printing problem 'on-demand' by following a certain set of steps, please post those steps here and we would be interested in doing further research in order to track this down.

As this is likely a hardware issue please let us know what hardware you are using;

Printer

Printer driver

How is it connected (to workstation and is this the workstation printing invoices, or to a print server, or to the file/data server)

Operating systems

Is the user who has the problem using the same printer/driver as the user who successfully printed?

Thanks for your response.
We are using an Epson Dot Matrix printer. It is connected directly to the printer and used only for printing invoices. However, 3 other uses running Order Entry print invoices to this printer remotely.

All computers running OE use windows XP. We have been using this configeration for a number of year (at least 5).

Hi All
Thanks for your response. We have"Direct Invoice Printing" turned on so invoices are printed as soon as orders are posted.

We have 3 persons running OE at the same time, processing orders, printing invoices, and credit notes.

There were no error messages. In the first instance, it was brought to our attention by a customer a month later.

Yes, we use "suppress zero qty on invoices" but the items all had quantities shipped.
Our invoice specification has 1 copy since we use a dot matrix printer (invoices are corbonized)

Hi Ruth,

Until the problem is repeatable, we won't be able to help very much. Perhaps you can have people keep an eye out and see whether there is anything constant that might be causing the problem.

Are you using a custom size form or 8.5" x 11"?

Why are you using a DOT Matrix? You can print multiple copies from Adagio to a laser printer.

I have not seen an Epson DOT Matrix for (going on) ten years. Is it possibel that the line feed is worn out causing it to skip lines?
