Hi Robert

Thanks for giving such detailed information! In response to your questions...

1. No, the install and use of DataCare does not affect SA data, nor will it interfere with any other application's data. DataCare only checks the state of the data, and reports errors if and when it finds them. It does not alter the data in any way.

2. There is no 'maximum file size' in SA that will cause a problem such as what you have described.

The version of DataCare you should have is compatible with the version of SA you are using.

You indicated that you did another DIC after restoring the data from the backup and it was clean - did you check the data again after bringing it up to date in SA? (eg. before archiving 1 year of data?) If so, what were the results? It seems that we are missing a piece of the puzzle.

Could you not retrieve data properly before?

I will explain a bit about the SA 'Retrieve' vs. 'Scan' options.

Retrieve:
=========
The option to retrieve relies on an OE Day End having been performed, and a subsequent print and clear of the audit lists. The actual clearing of the OE audit list(s) updates data files in SA which are used to store the OE information pertaining to this last Day End. Subsequently, when you retrieve OE data in SA, these files are then set back to 0 in preparation for the next OE DE process to update them. The retrieval into SA should be done after each OE DE, in order to keep the SA records up to date and prevent data from being 'lost'.

Scan:
=====
The Scan function brings data into SA from OE History, so if you retain history in OE, you can always get any 'missing' data back into SA using this method, if you have forgotten to use the Retrieve method at some point along the way.

The only limitation in SA regarding '65,000' records that we are aware of is when doing the Online Inquiry. Of course, the larger your data, the slower some processes will take - this is rule of thumb with any accounting software product, however, I have never heard of the 'size' of data causing data integrity problems, unless of course the data is corrupt and has files that have 'un-naturally' expanded to a much greater size than is normal. This is something entirely different.

Ok, thanks for the additional information. If you really would like to know more about the errors DataCare reported on SA data, you can do a 'verbose' DataCare report to see what those errors are exactly. The verbose option will give you much more detail on the errors than either the Terse or Condensed.

To get a 'verbose' listing, you must change this option in DataCare's Housekeeping - Company Profile. The option is near the bottom of the screen, called 'Diagnostic Level'.

After changing it, you could run a 'single entry check' on SA, then select Reports from the DataCare main menu - Print Log. If you print this to screen, you will be able to see more detail.

This may be redundant now that you are not having any problems. Glad to hear all is ok now!
