Pick Sequences are still not working correctly. This is creating some grief for us.

Our process is:

1) We add new item codes to Inventory (often copied from a similar item then edited).
2) We put the new item on a PO in POA and it asks us if we want to make the item active. We says Yes.
3) We receive the item in POA.
4) We put the item on the shelf and update the Pick Sequence in Inventory/Item Maintenance/Units to the location where the item is physically located on the shelf.

After this process, the Pick Sequence appears correctly in the Inventory Item Inquiry main grid, but when you open the item and look on the QTY tab, the Pick Sequence is NOT THERE. It can be seen on the Profile tab but not on the QTY tab.

When we add the item to an Order in OE the Pick Sequence corrects itself and becomes available in Inventory/Item Inquiry/QTY.

So we are looking for a fix for the Picking Sequence in Inventory/Item Inquiry tab/QTY for new items in stock that have never been sold.

We already have Hot Fix dated June 22/09 (POHFP20090619.EXE) installed.

Hi Susan:

There is a POA Service Pack dated Oct. 29 2009 that supercedes the Hot Fix. There is a fix to Picking Sequence handling but I don't know if it addresses your situation.

Hi Susan,

There is an Adagio Inventory service pack dated Dec 10, 2009 that is required to address the Picking sequence scenario within Item Inquiry.

Installing the service pack does not fix existing items - it will only prevent a particular scenario from happening again.

This is the description of what was changed in the Inventory release notes:

If you made an item active at a location in the Edit Items function (Location tab) when creating new item and the used the Default, or made the item active in the Item List for Location function, or posted a receipt for that item at a location, the Picking Sequence from the item did not display in the Item Inquiry (Quantities tab) and was blank. There was no problem if you used the Edit Picking Sequences function to set the Picking Sequence.

To fix existing items, you need to re-edit the item, either directly or via the Edit Pick Sequences function, and reset the default pick sequence for the affected location(s).

This problem is still occurring with new items created this week, while the hot fix and service packs have been long installed.

We are still having problems with Picking Sequences. The Picking Sequence does not display in Item Inquiry on the Quantities tab for any NEW codes we set up. We have to continually go to Edit Pick Sequences and reset the default. Will this ever be fixed? We can't even identify these items so we only find them by chance. Very frustrating!!

Hi, Susan,

When you create a new item, you need to allow it at a location(s).

Then, if you've entered the picking sequence number into the item record directly on the Units tab, you'll need to receive a quantity of the item before you'll be able to see the Pick Seq # in inquiries on the Quantities tab.

Otherwise, if you want to see the picking sequence number immediately in inquiries on the Quantities tab, use the Edit | Item Mtce | Picking Sequence function to enter the Pick Seq # on the item.

When we create a new item in Edit/Item, where and how are we suppose to allow it at a location?

Hi Susan,

When you edit or create an item using the current version of Adagio Inventory 8.1B, there are a total of 10 tabs visible. The 8th tab titled 'Location' allows you to either make the item active at one or more locations, or define a particular picking sequence for the item at a location. The functionality is the same as what can be found from the Edit / Item Maintenance menu and either 'Item List for Location' or 'Picking Sequence', but you can do it directly from the Edit Item function.

Which application are you in when items are created? Adagio Inventory or a different one such as Purchase Orders or Order Entry? You should be aware that the last 3 tabs for editing items (Location, Reorder and Sales History) are only visible when using Inventory to edit or created items, and not from any other application. This is required because IC Security controls access to these functions.

When you are using IC to create or edit an item, go to the Location tab. Highlight the location(s) and click the Active button to make it active at that location. The grid will show which locations are defined as active for the item.
