I have assets 6.2 with Accpac System Manager 7.0 under Win98 OS.

My problem is I'm trying to import the asset database from an existing company profile to a new company. When I export it to a file, there seems to be no problems. When I import it, I receive the following error message:

"integer to large"

any suggestions? , I reviewed what the manaul says, but it hasn't really helped me....

thx,

Alex

Dear exfoalex,

It is hard to say what the exact cause of your problem could be without having additional information from you...

Where to begin...
1. Have you ever tried importing assets before and been successful?
2. Have you prepared the 'new' Company properly prior to trying to import the assets? i.e. Are the two Companies setup exactly the same as far as:

a) Classifications
b) Locations
c) Recovery Schedules

If anything differs at ALL in any of the above areas, you will experience problems when trying to import the assets from the source Company into the new one.

For example, the Classifications must be typed exactly as in the source Company - if you have a Classification called "OFFICE" in the source, you must create one in the destination called "OFFICE" - if it is "Office" in the source, it must be "Office" in the destination!

The Recovery Schedules must be imported into the 'new' database prior to importing (or entering new) assets. Ensure that the same Recovery Schedules are imported as the ones used in the source database.

What exact fields are you importing? The fields selected during the Export procedure must be the same ones selected during the Import; they must be in the same order as well, and you must ensure that you select the same file format for both (if exported as .csv, then of course you must import as .csv!).

Because this particular error has not been reported before, it will be hard to say what the exact cause is. If you have tried the suggestions in the manual, along with these and still have a problem, then we would need to know more about your setup and what fields you are selecting during the export process.

As an aside, what release of version 6.2 are you using? This is an old version and may not fully support Y2K compliancy, nor be fully compatible with WSM 7.0 SP2.

The current shipping version is 6.5A. I have tried exporting assets out and importing them in to a newly created database without problems.

Perhaps you can try doing the same procedure using sample data, although this may take a few minutes to setup the 'new' company - it should tell you whether or not the problem resides with something within your data or not.

Please give exact details if none of the above information helps you to resolve the issue.

Sincerely,

Top
