Hello,

We finally got around to upgrading our modules yesterday and have run into an error. I upgraded the Lanpak to 9.0B and Data Care to 8.1A. Both of these upgrades seemed to work fine.

Then I upgraded the Inventory module to 8.1B. Now when trying to launch the Inventory module we receive two errors

Error 1) Error Internal Error: Field [31] of [@N80AOPT] is not a boolean field. occurred when attempting to read next record in options.

After clicking OK

Error 2) Critical Error: [1212] invalid path to data dictionary

Any help would be appreciated in resolving this.

Thanks
Josh

Hi Josh,

An error 1212 is always related to missing or incorrect data dictionaries. In your case they are there but the wrong version. I believe the upgrade installation was not able to copy in the required dictionaries for this version, likely because the pre-existing dictionaries had a file date later than those being copied in.

What is the release version/date of your Inventory program? Check this from Help / About.
In your \softrak\dict directory, what are the file dates of the Inventory data dictionary files @N80AI.SSI and @N80AR.SSI?

To fix this, you may need to run a Date Fixer utility that is available through your Adagio consultant. You may be able to simply download and install the latest service pack (dated Dec 10, 2009), which installs new dictionaries dated Dec 4, 2009.

Hi, Josh,

Sounds like your IC dictionaries were not updated properly. It's possible that one or more of these files have taken on the date of the install. If so, this may have occurred during a previous upgrade or service pack install and just now be causing the problem.

Make sure no one has anything in Adagio open. Drill down to your Softrak\Dict folder on your server. Then, locate and rename the @N80AI.ssi and @N80AR.ssi files (all you really need to do is add something like .old to the end of the current extension). Now, reinstall the IC upgrade.

After you've reinstalled, launch IC and ensure you do not receive these errors any more.

The release version and date are 8.1B and 091210 which i am assuming is Dec. 10, 2009.

The @N80AI.SSI and @N80AR.SSI files have date modified dates of 5/4/2007 and 5/28/2007 respectively.

I ran the service pack installation for Dec 10, 2009 again but same error.

Sorry I some how missed your second post. After the rename should I be reinstalling from the Service Pack download or the Update download? The service pack is only 7MB the update is 25MB.

ok. renamed the two dictionary files and re-installed the service pack. Error 1 related to the dictionary file is now gone, but still receiving the critical error 1212.

As indicated above,an error 1212 always refers to a dictionary error. There must be other dictionary files on your system that are incorrect.

Knowing what the entire error message is will often (not always) give more of a clue as to the specific problem.

You may want to contact your Adagio consultant to have them specifically troubleshoot this (which files).

Or, you can rename each of the @N*.ssi dictionary files (do not delete them) in your Softrak\Dict folder and try reinstalling IC again. If the problem is isolated to the IC dictionaries, this should resolve the problem. However, there may be other dictionary problems, unknown at this time, on your system.

Date problems occur when an install (current install or a prior one) is done directly on the server. Installs should be done while logged onto a workstation that is connected to the server via a LAN.

I renamed all the @N files. Resinstalled, updated and everything seems to be working great. Now to update the other modules, after another backup of course.

Thank for all the help
