Hi, When I imported/retrived the 07-08 data to the Leger 9.0A I got the error: GL MC Net Changes file does not exist. Can anyone help?

Do you have multicurrency enabled in your current year GL - in the company profile? And is the prior year you are trying to import not have multicurrency enabled?

If your current year GL is single currency then the 'MC Net Change' data files are not required and ignored. But if the current year has multicurrency enabled then the prior year retrieve expects to find all the MC-particular files such as the MC Net Changes.

As far as I know the MC is not enabled in both current and prior year.

The 3 MC Net Changes data file names are start with 'GLNBMC'. Interestingly, I see these 3 files in single currency sample data, likely created by the data conversion from GL 81A to GL 90A. Based on your comments, I suspect that the Retrieve Prior Year is looking for the existance of these data files and because the don't exist in the current year data, the problem message appears.

Is this preventing retrieval of the prior year, or just a warning when running the 'Integrity' check within the Retrieve Prior Year function? If just a warning, you should just be able to go ahead.

If you are prevented from importing, then it is possible that there was a data conversion problem at the beginning and the data was not properly converted. You could try copying in these data files from a different data set and rename the extension (since they won'y be used), but if you try this then do so on a copy of the data and perform a data integrity check.

Are we talking about importing or retrieving data? Are you using File | Import | Retrieve Prior Year Data? If so, then the data must be coming from Accpac Plus or Adagio Ledger V8.1A. You do not need to "rerieve prior year data" from Ledger V9.0 since it isn't purged at year end.

The problem could be that in the prior year data that you are trying to retrieve, one or more of the 'Fiscal Set' data files are missing. Adagio Ledger 81A has these data files named GLFSET'1.dat, GLFSET'2.dat and GLFSET'R.dat. The data file you are trying to retrieve from is incomplete. You will need to find a complete set of historical data, otherwise you will not be able to do the retrieval.

I was able to duplicate the message by removing one or more of these data files from historical (07-08) data.

Also as Andrew indicated, if the 07-08 data was converted to Ledger 90, it can no longer be retrieved using this function. But this gives a different error message, so the problem is the one above with an incomplete historical data set.

Hi Andrew. Yes I am using File/import/retrieve prior year data. And it is coming from Adagio Ledger 8.1A.

The funny thing is There are 3 GLNBMC files in both current year data and prior year data.

You are right there are no GLFSET'1.dat and GLFSET'2.dat and GLFSET'R.dat in the the prior year data folder. I will try to find the complete set of the historical data.

You indicated that the prior year data set had GLNBMC data files, which should only exist in company data that has been converted to Ledger 90A. This tells me that an attempt to convert the historical data was made and cancelled or failed. I believe there are more serious problems with the historical data than simply missing GLFSET data files.

Can you open the historical data with Ledger 81A? Does it pass an integrity check?

I am installing 81A on my computer now and open the historical data.

I tried to find those missing files....but got no luck. It seemed like the historical data was imcompleted. When I open the data with 8.1A. It gave me this error: The batch control file was not found. Imcomplete data set. Unable to start program.
