I went into history and items and wanted to print off the items sold for the fiscal year. I compared this report that was printed from sales analysis and for a lot of the items the number of units was different.

IN OE i printed invoices and credit notes and in SA the numbers were lower than most of the OE numbers. I would have thought if SA was higher than SA doesn't consider credit notes.

I can't explain the difference and don't know which report is correct.

thanks
Laura

This is a difficult question to answer without seeing the data. A couple of pointers;

1. SA does have the credit notes.
2. When you say I printed invoices and credit notes, specifically which report?
3. Has all of the sales data been retrieved from OE to SA?
4. Have you used the exact same parameters to filter both reports?
5. Has anyone archieved the data in SA?
6. Is the hoistory in OE complete for the time frame you are reporting on?

Choose one item and list the sales transactions from Inventory History. Choose the same item and the same period in SalesAnalysis and list the sales. Then use GridView to inspect the OE history files. In OE all quantities are positive, and you must flip the sign based on the document type ("C" = Credit Note, "I" = Invoice). In SalesAnalysis the sign is flipped so just summing the quantities sold works. All modules allow people to purge data. SalesAnalysis allows people to edit the numbers (the data is considered statistical in nature).

Do you have alternate units of measure? SalesAnalysis normalizes the sales. OE and IC may not.

OE seems to be right, but i think the person did not flip the sign for credit notes...

When i go to OE, history, and items and i use that function, no one can purge the information that i can't get it from here? It seems to get everything fine. is this true?

Thanks again. I just switched resellers and i have been using adagio since 1997 (GL only) and 2008 i have 9 modules. I really like this program, but need to understand where things happen, so thank you for your patience. I am currently doing the webinars that are stored on your site to help me learn better.

Information is purged from the OE History file according to the options set in the OE Company profile, and whether the user runs the Maintenance | Purge History function.
