When I am using O/E looking up a record typically you would press enter after it locates the record. Instead it pulls up what looks to be a random inv/order numer. At this point you have to hit the escape key and open it from the list. I hope that makes sense. This started happening after the most recent upgrade.

Do you mean the Display Order/Invoices/Credit Notes function?

Are there other people posting new orders or invoices while the display window is open? And are those new documents immediately causing a refresh of your display orders screen?

How do you open the order for display - from the grid or the Find button?

We find it using the "find" button , Other people are dormant when this happens, it's when we use the "edit" function.

I'm having the same problem I thought it was a vista clich but maybe it's the upgrade. It's when you use the find key in order/invoices/credit notes. What happens is all the orders are not made available when you use the find function. So when you key in your order # to pull it up to process it can't find it and goes to the last one on the list usually an earlier number. All the orders are no longer made available. You need to keep closing this window and openning it again to have the orders appear. It's definately a problem that needs to be fixed since it's time consumming.

I see there is another upgrade to version 8.1C not sure is this was fixedin the upgrade. I'm using V8.1B right now

When you use the "Find" button, you can elect to go to the order or invoice associated with the document and either highlight or edit the document chosen. Do you have these options set to the behaviour you want? Perhaps the settings have changed?

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your response. my default is set on Edit but I can do both. I will try it on highlight and see if that makes a difference. My setting look ok or the same.

It's the edit part that I'm having a problem with.
If you key in the order # under "find", (edit checked)
it pulls up another order. Like I said, usually a order made earlier. When you close the wrong order and see the list of your orders the last one highlighted is the wrong order. Several orders are not showing on the list anymore including the order number that was typed in. If you close the "enter/orders/invoices/credits" window and bring it up again the orders are back but now I'm scrolling to find my order to pull it up. Sometimes the find button will work the next time you try the same order and sometimes it's won't.

I was thinking it maybe a vista problem but I have been able to duplicate this problem on our XP machines. since I did the updates then i received this new vista computer it's hard to tell if the ram is a problem not pulling up all the orders or if the upgrade appears to have a clich or if it just can't handle the volumne of current orders we have on file approx 60k plus orders.
I never had this problem with the previous versions.
Our computers are all pretty new, ram shouldn't be an issue.
My other thought might be the number of users at one time makes this happen. We have as many as 10 users using OE at one time and accesses 60k plus orders is it too much?

sorry Vegas to take up your thread it just appeared related.

Nope - your volumes are fine.

You mention a new computer. Have you checked your opportunistic locking settings? Does the data pass the data integrity check?

Do you create your own order and invoice numbers, or is the computer generating these for you automatically.

Well I did chksys just to make sure
I had no Op locks on error and I don`t.

I did however have the following errors
on AP QRTAPT68.QRW dated 12/27/2002, needs to be 06/15/2006

on AR QRTMCW80.QRW DATED 09/15/02, needs to be 10/09/07

no other errors. none on OE AND IN

Data Integrity checks come out clean - no error on all.

Data Care runs everynight, history does show rebuild but I was told this was a clich and go by the report that says no errors.

Yes the systems assigns the order numbers and invoices numbers.
I don`t seem to have a problem for the system to wait for a user to finish posting before it assigns the next number. This works fine.

thanks again, Treasure

Hi, Treasure,

You've provided good instructions and I'm trying to recreate your scenario but so far I haven't been able to. Some more questions:

(1) When you're on the Orders/Invoices/CNs grid, are you (a) clicking Find, (b) keying Alt/F, or (c) pressing F5?

(2) On the Find window, you're typing the Order # only and the 'What to do' radio dot is beside Edit, yes?

(3) Do you then (a) press Enter, (b) click OK or (c) key Alt/O?

(4) Please verify the full version and release date of OE is use (eg. OE8.1B(080421) or OE8.1C(090731) or another).

(5) Please drill down to the Softrak\System folder on your server. Right click on the ADS32.dll file and select the Versions tab. What is the File Version displayed?

The QRTAPT68.QRW file you have has the correct date. There may be an inconsistency with the file date of the same name in your Softrak\System\QRASP folder. Similarly with your QRTMCW80.QRW file; although current versions of this file are 8/12/2003.

Hi again
Thanks for your Help today.

1. I do both (a) click find, & (c) press F5
but usually click find.

2. yes it's there.

3. I click (a) enter or (b) click ok
I never use the alt keys.

4. OE8.1B (080421) (I know I need to update)

5. I'm using vista so no version tab but the version says 1.12.54.2519

After my discussion today a softrak support member I will be maintaining less orders in current. I'm going to cut down to 6 month of current orders. I do have them in history, our big problem is on-going construction projects that last a year or so and sometimes it's important to have all the orders together for reference. Having them in current seems easier but we'll work around it and see how that goes.

If I still see a problem after I have done this I'll let you know. Thanks so much again, I appreciate it. Treasure
