When looking at View/Transactions/Budgets we have the Account #, Description and Current Balance in the grid. After selecting the current fiscal year and period, the current balance of each account is displayed. The current balance on our bank account includes post dated entries. When you double click and open the account and use the same fiscal year and period, the balance is different because it does not include the post dated entries. Is there a way to exclude the posted dated entries on the grid that lists all the accounts? At any given time I want to see the current bank balance, not the bank balance after all the post dated cheques for the whole year are deducted. I tried using "Current Balance FY" but had the same result.

Are those post dated entries in a future fiscal period, or with a future date but still within the current fiscal period? Adagio Ledger can only group transactions by the fiscal period with this function, so the current balance will always be based on all transactions for the selected period, regardless of the date.

Essentially, the best Adagio Ledger will do is show you the bank balance as of the ending day of each fiscal period.

If you need to see the bank balance as of a specific day, that would be a job for Adagio BankRec.

The entries are in a future fiscal period. One per month to the end of the fiscal year (post dated cheques). Adagio Ledger's View/Transactions/Budgets screen does not show the correct balance for the end of the fiscal period selected. That's the problem. It shows the balance to the end of all the future fiscal periods.

The field 'Current Balance (FY)' is the one you need to have on this grid to have the balance recalculate based on the selected fiscal period and/or year. If the field you have selected is simply the 'Current Balance', then this will display the current balance with those future transactions and not change based on the selected fiscal year/period.

Perhaps use the column editor to reset the grid - the one you want is part of the default grid layout.

If you View the bank GL account, the same functionality exists where you can select a fiscal period/year and the balance as of that period is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Does this work for you? There are no grid settings or chance of selecting an incorrect field - it simply works as is. If this works for you, then the problem you are having has to do with the selected columns for the grid.

When we view the bank GL account at the bottom it says, "balance as of end of period 6" and it gives the correct balance.

In the View/Transactions/Budgets screen that lists all the accounts, "Current Year" shows the balance at the close of our last fiscal year. I suppose this will be corrected when we close our year.

"Current Year FY" shows the balance for this fiscal year right to the end of the fiscal year including all of the post dated entries. It ignores the period you select. In fact you can select any period and the number does not change.

Anyway, it's no big deal. I just have to open the account to get the current balance and can't go by either of the Current Balance options in the grid. The important thing is knowing how to avoid thinking the account balance is something completely different than what it actually is!

When in the View Grid double click in the column titles to bring up the Column Editor and select "Reset".

I've seen the error you reported on a different workstation. When they reset the grid from the column editor, it fixed the problem So you can get what you want by using the column editor on that grid and reset it.

We're not sure how things got to how they did, but there is an easy way to resolve it. Thanks for pointing it out.
