Hi All,

I'm trying to unpost some batches and get the following error:

"Validation of reconstructed batch failed because Total debits does not equal original data. Unposting halted."

All the transactions are in the current fiscal year.

It always happens during the 'Validating batch information...' stage.

How can I unpost these batches? Just as a side note, I am unposting them, assigning some transactions to a different account, and then reposting. I haven't had a problem with any of the batches I can unpost.

There are four possibilities:

1) One or more of the accounts in this batch were set up as "consolidated" accounts instead of "detail" accounts. This is not recommended (it is a vestige from the days when disk space was expensive).

2) You consolidated the batch in the subledger prior to retrieving it in GL

3) You consolidated posted transactions - definitely not recommended ever!

4) Your data is corrupt.

While you are at it, make sure that the periods this batch was posted to are not closed.

...and a final item to add to Steve's list...

You are running an older version of Adagio Ledger (check your service packs), and the batch you are trying to unpost orignally posted with some transactions being thrown into an error batch. In this case, the amount recorded as posted in the batch control file does not agree with the amount of transactions that are found and the error you see is generated.

The only way to fix this is through a data repair or by judicious use of Adagio GridView-RW.

Good monring,

We are trying to unpost a batch in the Ledger, however it is greyed out and we can not click on it to unpost the batch.

Any ideas how we can fix this?

Hi, Matt,

I'm not sure exactly what version of Ledger you're using but, if the menu item exists but is greyed out (inactive), this means that the user that is logged on does not have access to the function. The security group they belong to has not been granted access to the function. Therefore, they can't use it.

Your Adagio system administrator (user SYS) would be able to use the function or grant access to others to use or not use it.
