Dear Willow (what a beautiful name!)
To answer your first question - the only way you will be able to proceed without restoring from backup would be to get your data repaired. We offer this service here, if your ACCPAC dealer does not. If you are interested in obtaining a quotation on what the cost would be, you can call our Database Repair department directly (604) 736-3741 or you can email them datarepair@softrak.com .
Otherwise, (Yes!) your only other option would be to restore your TBR data from a good, recent backup.
If you were in the middle of posting the batch when the system froze, then other modules that receive TBR data could be affected as well, but without some investigation it is hard to say.
You can determine this by finding out:
1. What type of batch you were processing at the time of the freeze. (i.e. were the posted transactions in this batch going to affect P/R, C/B or G/L?)
2. Do you think some of the transactions DID post successfully?
Using these methods, you should be able to determine whether or not you need to restore other ACCPAC data or not. You shouldn't really have to (see notes below).
Note that whether you opt for DBR or restoring your TBR data, you will have to check out other ACCPAC Plus modules to see if any of the transactions from the original TBR batch got posted through or not. Since A/P sends information to TBR, and not the other way around, you should not have to worry about A/P.
Other modules that may be affected are G/L (Retrieve subledger batch) and P/R (although TBR does not directly integrate with ACCPAC Plus Canadian or US Payroll, it keeps the time transactions relating to PR information in a special file in the same data directory as the TBR data. This file is called ?LWPRBTCH.xxx?, where .xxx represents the data extension of the TBR data. If these transactions were for P/R, then this file could have been only partially updated.).
Another module that could be affected is Cashbook (Retrieval batch in CB). Since both G/L and CB require that you manually retrieve the batch created in TBR, you can always retrieve these batches in those applications, then just delete them. You may have to check into this a bit further to see if the batch got this far or not. The main thing is that you do delete them though, as if you are going to rekey the batch in TBR, it will again post to these modules, so you do not want to end up with duplicate transactions.
If you are still uncertain about all of this, you should really contact your ACCPAC dealer - they have much experience in this area and will be able to assist you in making the right decision.
PS Until you have made a decision - all regular processing should STOP in TBR.
Good luck!
