Dear Rhoda

This type of error normally indicates a problem in your data, however the suggestions below will determine if this is the case or not. Make sure you have a good recent backup of your data, then perform the following procedures to check your data for errors.

1. Open Adagio Invoices
2. Go to File - Data Integrity Check
3. Click on Check Data
4. Wait while Adagio performs the check then, if errors are found, click the Rebuild button to see if they can be fixed.
5. Perform the Check Data again to ensure that there are no errors.

IF no errors were found, then you can try the following steps to try to determine what is causing the problem, if not the data:

1. Open the Adagio sample data and see if the problem still occurs. At the 'Open Adagio Invoices Data' startup screen, use the browse button (directly to the right of the 'Data path' dialogue box) to locate the drive where Adagio is installed.

2. Point to the Softrak\QIWIN\Samdata directory on this drive (the extension is .SAM) and click OK.

3. If there is no invoice batch, enter one and post it, then try printing the posting journal.

Does the same error occur? If not, the problem is likely within your data files, even though the DIC did not detect any errors. Contact us again with the exact details if this is the case.

If the error happens with sample data as well, then it could be that a program file associated with this report is the problem. Rename the QIWIN program directory (it is in the Softrak folder on the drive where Adagio is installed), then reinstall Invoices.

IF errors were found and Adagio was able to rebuild (fix) the errors, you should be ok to proceed. Try printing the invoice posting journal again - if you have the same problem, see the options below for 'IF there are errors...'.

IF there are errors after the Rebuild procedure (i.e. Adagio could not fix them), you have the following choices:

1. You can restore from the most recent good backup that was made prior to receiving the error. Afterwards, you will have to re-enter any missing batch data that has been lost as a result of the restore.

2. You can get a Database Repair. Your Dealer may offer this service. If they do not, you can contact our Database Repair Department by calling (604) 736-3741 or via email datarepair@softrak.com . They will ask you for information on the problem and may ask you to send a copy of your data, then will provide you with a quotation on the cost to repair the data.

Hope this helps

Hi Rhoda

Thanks. I have more questions for you then.

Since you upgraded from QIWIN, have you ever been able to print the posting journal successfully? Another thought - was this the batch (or batches) that originally existed in QIWIN when you first upgraded to Invoices from QIWIN?

Did the batch(es) that you are trying to print the PJ for originally post OK? i.e. were there any errors or anything else that happened during posting (or even during the entry of the batch) that was out of the ordinary? (i.e. power surge or failure, system or server crash or other 'hiccups'?)

Did you rename the QIWIN program directory before you re-installed Adagio Invoices? (It is important that you do this, as the report files involved may not be overwritten if you just reinstall over top of the existing program.)

Are you sure that you reinstalled it to the correct drive? If it is installed on a Network Server, for example, it is important that you install it to the correct drive and directory (there could be several 'drives' on the server for instance.).

Is Adagio installed on your local PC (i.e. stand alone)or on a Server in a Peer to Peer network setup or a dedicated Server?

Are you using or logged onto Terminal Server/Services when this occurs, or just using Invoices logged onto your regular PC or network?

Can you print other reports OK from this PC?
Can you print the Invoice Posting Journal from another station OK?
Is there anybody else in Adagio at the time you are trying to print the posting journal?

Finally, do you have a good backup made just prior to posting that you could go back to if necessary?

Thank you.

Hi Rhoda,

One more thing I forgot. In the \QRASP directory is contained the tables used for printing the standard reports. You will get an 'Error 533' if the table exists but is an incorrect version. If you are going to reinstall, first rename the file QRTQIW10.QRW.

This file could have been changed if you installed a different version of Quik Invoice for Windows or Adagio Invoices.
