Dear Denise
It sounds like you are using Adagio on a network. Is there any other station in the Ledger data (either using Adagio or ACCPAC Plus G/L) at the time the other workstation is trying to access the same data? If you are trying to use Adagio by more than one user at the same time, you will need an Adagio Lanpak, to allow proper multi-user access.
The error you are receiving on these workstations could also be due to inconsistent mapping to the network 'server' drive. If this is a Peer to Peer network, then this could turn into a more serious problem, if steps are not taken to ensure that all stations (or 'peers') are mapped and pointing to the same drive and directory on the system acting as the 'server'.
You may need to call your Dealer for assistance, or whoever does maintenance & trouble shooting on your network to proceed with the following suggestions, if you think it could be a problem.
1. The 'server' must share it's drive C:
2. Consistent drive mapping to the 'server' must be implemented. Except for the system acting as the 'server', all stations must use the same mapping to point to the 'server' drive C:\. The way to do this is using the "UNC" format for the 'server' drive that is being shared for this purpose. If it is the 'server's "C" drive, then the UNC format name would be: "\\SERVER\C" and not "C:\".
3. The first time you start Adagio from one of the stations, it will prompt you for:
CURRENCY PATH
EZTASKS PATH
The currency files and task file are normally located in the ACCPAC Plus \ASP directory or, if ACCPAC Plus is NOT installed, the Adagio \SOFTRAK\SYSTEM directory.
Each station should use the "UNC" format to point to these directories on the 'server's shared drive where Adagio was installed. For example:
"\\SERVER\C\ASP" and NOT "C:\ASP"
4. When you go to access the data from the other stations (not the 'server' station), you would also point to the shared data in the same way, for example:
"\\SERVER\C\ASP\DATA" and NOT "C:\ASP\DATA" (at the login screen)
From the 'SERVER' station:
It is okay for the SERVER machine to point to the data by C:\ASP\DATA.
NOTE that the browse will not allow you to look at network neighborhood so you may have to manually type in the path to the data.
DRIVE MAPPING FOR DATA ACCESS:
It would be easier for the STATION machines to map a network drive to \\SERVER\C, by creating a map to say, P: then to use a path of P:\ASP\DATA to open the data. It is okay for the SERVER STATION to point to the data by C:\ASP\DATA and the other STATIONS by P:\ASP\DATA.
Because the most recent path is kept for the login screen, the users will find that they have to keep re-selecting their path as it gets changed by the other user. To avoid this, you can use special command parameters in each STATION?s desktop icon so that when they click on the icon to open Adagio, it will default to the correct path for this STATION.
If you would like more information on the command line parameters, please let us know.
After ensuring that your network is using mapping consisently, you should do a Data Integrity Check, to make sure there are no data problems. If you still have problems or errors after following the suggestions, please create another post.
Hope this helps
