Hi Leo

I am sorry for your frustration - we would like to help you as soon as possible to get this resolved, but in order to do so, we would like some more specific information please.

I believe in an earlier post, you indicated that you have a 10-user Adagio Lanpak installed, which would allow more than one user into a specific Adagio module at the same time.

Given this, the information you have given in this post has scary implications - in a properly functioning multi-user install - users should NOT be able to access the same BATCH in any given module simultaneously!

If you have installed and setup Adagio correctly to be used in this environment, then the main Adagio programs should be installed on the Server only - and each client attached to the server should have had their own workstation setup done.

If this has been done, then if User 1 is in a certain batch, no other user will be able to go into that batch until User 1 exits out of that batch. This is true multi-user locking protection. If the initial setup of Adagio was not successful, or was not done correctly, or if something has occurred to disrupt or change it, then this could drastically affect the way Adagio functions. It could also cause data corruption.

When this occurs...

1. Are ALL users operating within the Archive Batch screen only (opening and closing the archive invoices & adding new ones & deleting other ones)?

Or

2. Are some users RESTORING (moving or copying) archive invoices/batches to the Open Batch screen possibly at the same time that the other users are opening and closing the SAME archive invoices within the Archive batch area?

Please be specific and give detailed examples of exactly how/what the Users are doing in respect to the other users. i.e. User 1 is in Archive batch 21 adding new invoices while User 2 is attempting to restore an Archive batch to the Open batch screen and at the same time User 3 is working in Archive batch 22...etc.

Thank you

Regards

Thank you for clarifying these things, Leo.

Although we do have environments where there are many users processing transactions in Adagio, we have not had any reports of this blank line phenomenon that you have described unless there was something wrong with the data for that application. Sometimes, even though the DIC is clean - there can be problems.

Does this problem exist only in batches with 50 or more entries? Can you pin it down to a common factor in some way?

If you restore the archive batch to an open invoice batch, then archive it again - does the problem go away?

Unfortunately, without being able to look at the data it is hard for us to do proper troubleshooting, so can only offer suggestions.

You must be on a combined support plan to obtain full technical support. If you are interested in this, please contact our Customer Service Department - email: customerservice@softrak.com , or you can call direct (604) 736-3741 and ask for that department.

Sincerely,

Hello Leo,

You are right, our Quality Assurance process does not include "...ten simultaneous users all pushing archive batches with a database of 2000 items and 2000 customers with 4000 ship to choices". If it did, we'd never manage to ship anything. Having said that, we do have a site running Adagio Invoices with many simultaneous data entry staff that are not having this problem.

I have asked Steve Wilson to contact you for a copy of your database so that we can try and duplicate the problems with the damaged batch status grids. He will send you an e-mail with the details of the files we need.

Within the last few days, we have released a PTF for invoices that fixes the problem you noticed with the Tax ID fields not changing when the customer number is changed on an archive invoice. As an aside, this behaviour only occurs on Win2000 machines.

From your description of the procedures you are following, it appears that you are trying to use Adagio Invoices as an Order Management system. It is possible that Adagio OrderEntry would be a better "fit" for this process, as it manages backorders, future orders and standing orders. In addition, you can change the customer number on a restored order (invoice) from history.

As regards our Customer Support policies, I think that you would have to agree that Softrak has been providing you with substantive and responsive support through this forum without charge, and we will attempt to resolve the issues you are experiencing. I'm glad that you have upgraded to Pentium 300's, but I doubt that you will see much overall speed improvement until you move to 100Based-T for your network. 10Mbit is pretty slow these days for moving the amount of data in a typical accounting application.
