I am viewing an inventory valuation report and note that a particular item has an actual cost of $120.69 which I can back check from the various receipts. However it also has a recent cost of $236. I can not not find a single receipt for this amount. The last receipt was at $112.44. I can find no transactions for the date of change for the recent cost but can find transactions - adjustments and receipts before and after that particular date.

How can a recent cost change without a receipt?

Are you using Purchase Orders for Adagio? It has multiple options for updating the most recent cost field, some of which are much different than simply the cost you paid to the supplier.

Also, find out what the Previous Most Recent Cost was, and the Date of Change. Both are available under the Costing tab of Item Inquiry with Sales and Costs. This will give you a clue as to the timing.

No we are not using Purchase Orders. I did and could not find any transaction for that date. Even though there were transactions before and after. Is it possible to selective purge some items from the history of an item?

Could you have edited or imported changes to the item? Most Recent Cost won't change on it's own. Something happened on the date in question for the 'Date of Change'.

In Adagio Inventory, you can selectively purge transactions from History, from the History report. Whatever gets printed to the report would be purged if you chose Yes to the question of purging. That could be receipts for a specific item within a certain date range, or whatever criteria is selected for the report.
