Bank Code is "01" from a conversion of Cash Book. Whether I set the default Bank Code in import or have Bank Code as a field in the import file, the Bank Code is always recognized as "1" and stops the import. I have tried both CSV and formatting the field as text in Excel with no luck.

Anyone have a trick to complete the import?

Thanks, David

Hi David,

Usually, Adagio's codes do not support leading zeros.

When you say you are importing Cashbook transactions, BankRec normally offers to convert any Cashbook data it finds. Did this not happen?

Bankrec converted the Cashbook data, but left the Bank Code as "01" without striping the 0. The data files all have the bank code as "01". Gridview retrieves this code a '1'. I have worked with CSV and XLS files attempting to create a file that will import payroll data, but the '0' always gets striped and causes the import to fail. I also tried to set a default bank code, but this also strips the '0'.

Thanks, David

Hi, David,

What is the exact version(release date) of BankRec you are using to convert the CashBook data with?

And, what is the exact version(release info) of CashBook data you are converting?

Bankrec is 8.1a (070922) and Cashbook is PereSoft Cashbook 991119.

Thanks,
David

Hi, David,

What Andrew said about leading zeroes being stripped is correct.

I think the problem is in how you are doing the conversion.

When you convert your CashBook data to BankRec, after the prompt asking you if you want to convert, you are taken to the Company Profile to enter defaults. On the Options tab, you can enter a Default Bank of 1 if you like (with no leading zeroes).

This next part is important. When you Okay the Company Profile, a 'Convert Cashbook' screen displays. In your case, it will show the Cashbook bank and, in the first column under CB, it will say '01'. The next column is the Bank Description.

You need to highlight the CashBook bank and Edit it. You will be prompted to enter the BankRec bank code. Enter '1' (no leading zeroes) and click OK.

Now on the grid in the 3rd column under BR, you will see the new BR bank code the CashBook bank is to be converted to.

Click Okay on the Convert CashBook screen.

Now, when you do any subsequent imports, you can strip the leading bank code zeroes out of the import file before you try to import them to BankRec.

I appreciate the info. This leaves me with the problem that I did the conversion with end of July information and didn't know I would have this problem.

Is there any way to close a bank account and get all data into a new account?

I played with the data with a hex editor and got real close to modifying all instances of the Bank Code. This would be an easier modification due to the company only using 1 bank code.

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

If you upload the data to our Softrak DBR (database repair), perhaps there is something we can do for you to fix the data.

Would they need a copy to look at or should I wait until I can upload a current copy?

Thanks,
David
