Dear mrushton

Since this is a standalone PC, running Win98 then rights should not be an issue.

Get them to reinstall Adagio again, but FIRST:
Check the version of the crpe32.dll file in their Windows\System32 directory. It should be 7.0.100.15 with a modified date of June 21, 1999. Also, it should be 5.52MB in size and the file attributes should only be 'archive'.

If this is not what is there, then this is the likely problem. If it IS there, perhaps it has become damaged or otherwise altered in some way.

To allow for this, you can rename the crpe32.dll file and then re-install Adagio.

The reason the re-install did not work the first time is difficult to say for sure, but one of the known causes is the User installed an application that uses a newer version of the crpe32.dll and this overwrote the one Adagio uses. Since the file is newer, Adagio did not replace it when the reinstall was done.

There are other instances, but only if a network is involved.

Hope this helps

Hello

The checks, invoices and statements are generated from the Designer's print program, while the reports use Crystal. This is why they have no problem printing documents that were generated from a specification file.

If this is a new install and they have never been able to print the reports, then perhaps the install did not work properly. If they have been able to print reports prior to this, and this problem is new, then what has happened that could have affected this? Did they install some software that uses Crystal?

Exactly which reports print ok and which ones exhibit the problem? As a rule, the Company Profile and Batch Status reports are normally the ones that are OK, as they do not deal with calculations and options as the other reports do.

Since they are using more than one Adagio module, get them to use Windows Add/Remove programs to uninstall Adsagio (this should remove the files that were installed to the Windows and Windows\System directories) then RENAME or remove the Softrak directory (this should be on the root of C:\ if on a local machine). Also rename the Crystal Directory. This can be found in the Windows directory. (NOTE: If they use any other product that uses Crystal - this may affect those applications.) Then, have them reinstall the Adagio modules after renaming.

BEFORE DOING THIS ensure that NO OTHER applications are running in the background or otherwise (ie shut down them down!).

REBOOT the PC after doing the install, to refresh all settings.

Other things to check:
-Make sure they have the latest release (update) for Windows 98.
-Make sure they have the latest version of the printer driver installed for the version/SR of Win98 they are using.
-Do they have more than one printer installed on this system? If so, please describe the situations that each are used.

You indicated that their crpe file was fine. How did you determine this? Even if it has the same attributes and properties as I indicated, that does not rule out the possibility that it has become damaged. Reinstalling would not automatically replace that file - you would have to rename it, then reinstall. After you use Add/Remove programs to uninstall Adagio, find out if it removed the crpe file. If it did not, please rename it before reinstalling.

Thank you.

Another thought - is this client's local C:\ drive partitioned? If so, there is a possibility that when they installed Adagio they did not point to the correct drive for the report tables.

Normally, you should select the same drive for both the program 'destination directory' (e.g. x:\SOFTRAK\xxWIN) and the 'Report Tables Drive'. If your client's setup is different than this, then when they re-install Adagio, they should pay special attention to this. Do a 'Custom Install' rather than select the default 'Standard Install'. This will allow you to control this.

Especially if ACCPAC Plus is installed, the standard install defaults to the first drive found that contains ACCPAC Plus programs and installs to this drive - it may not always select the same drive for program installation as it does for the Report Tables installation - if this is the case, you could encounter problems such as what your client is experiencing, although this is more unlikely on a standalone PC.

Typically 'standalone' refers to a system that does not have the ability to connect to a Server/network, however, this does not rule out having the local C: drive partitioned.

Sorry for not thinking of this sooner. If this is not the case with your client, then my earlier responses should resolve the problem.

Regards
