Hello All,

I have a client running GL 9.0, when they go to print the detail listing they are receiving an error message that say:

Error Internal Error: field number our of range. occurred when attempting to append record to account trans temp.

I was there earlier that day and it was producing the report fine. I have tried all the variables in the report and nothing seems to change it.

Any ideas what this could be about??

Thanks,

Darcy Chretien

Can you get a screen shot of the report options screen to see what they have selected? Also, can they print the report from the sample data?

Hi, Darcy,

Would you also confirm exactly what version and release date of GL9 your client is using? You can obtain this information by selecting Help | About from the GL9 main menu. This information is oftn useful in helping us to troubleshoot an issue.

Thanks!

Hello,

To confirm, it is GL 9.0A(071102)
I will contact them to see if they can print the report using sample data.

Thanks,

Hi, Darcy,

That was the original release of GL9.0A. There have been some service packs for the program since then and we have done additional work on the Detail Listing report specifically.

Is the client on an upgrades plan? They should be running a much newer release date of the program. They would be receiving notices of these via email and the service pack can be downloaded from our website. Extraction passwords are also available in the email they receive or to you as their dealer.

Please ensure they are running a current release and see if this resolves their problem. If not, please post again or you can email or call Support.

Hello Softrak,

Thank you for looking into that for me. It is a unique situation as we have just taken over this client, so I was unaware that they weren't updated, but I certainly will make sure that they will be now.

Thanks again!

Softrak,

I was given incorrect information yesterday regarding their version number, it is actually the current version of GL 9.0(080704). I'm on site now and am still generating that error. I also have Error 120 when trying to produce a Trial Balance.
(Lookup item not found::Formulas.Name:=bReportInactiveAcctTotals.

This same error occurs when I try to print the reports from the sample data.

Thanks in advance,

Darcy Chretien

Hi, Darcy,

It's possible that something is out of sync with the reports being run and the QRT tables or that a core report has been modified.

Questions:

(1) In their x:\Softrak\Ledger folder, is there another folder called ModRP? If so, the report may need to be redone. ModRPs are run instead of the StandardRP of the same name and cannot be automatically updated with a service pack or upgrade.

(2) If there is no ModRP, please check in the StandardRP folder for the following files and their dates:

Allistc_mc_v2 - 3/06/2008
Allistc_v2 - 3/06/2008
Alliste_mc_v2 - 3/07/2008
Alliste_v2 - 3/06/3008
Allists_mc_v2 - 3/07/2008
Allists_v2 - 3/06/2008

and the 3 Trial Balance report files:

Altrial* all dated 4/25/2008.

(3) Please also check these files in their \QRASP folder:

QRTALZ90.qrt 3/06/2008
QRTALW90.qrt 3/19/2008

(4) Or, it might just be easiest to reinstall the module. Please call if you have a question regarding this.

Softrak,

There is no ModRP file.

Thank you for the tip on that one. Sure enough all of the files listed were lasted modified between 18/10/07 and 24/10/07.

The QRASP files are at 19/09/07 and 28/09/07 respectively.

What is the best route to take on this one?? and what could be the cause of this case???

Thanks a bunch,

Darcy Chretien

Hello,

I did a reinstall of the module, the report files look good now, however when I go to print a detail listing now, The report comes up and then automatically closes before it fully shows up. However other reports are printing fine.

Thanks,

Hi, Darcy,

Are you able to print the report direct to the printer using the Print button? What happens if you try to print the report to screen using sample data?

Please recheck the dates of your QRTAL9*.* files? I think you should rename them and reinstall once more. As well, ensure you have the correct Allist*.rpt files in the StandardRP folder. If any dates are different than indicated above, rename the file before reinstalling.

Darcy,

Please check your dictionary files also. Look in the x:\Softrak\Dict folder for the @L9*.* files. For the version you quoted, they should be dated 7/02/2008. If they aren't, rename them too before reinstalling.

And, please, always make sure that an install is performed while logged on to a workstation that is connected to the server via a LAN (and not while logged onto the server directly).

Softrak,

It looks as though only the QRTAL9 files are of the wrong date. I will try the reinstall again.

Softrak,

Just so I implement this correctly, the files with the wrong date were renamed then the reinstall was performed over top the existing version, however the files did not change upon reinstall, The QRTAL9 files are still at the incorrect date. Is there another way I should be performing this??

Thanks!

Hi, Darcy,

What are the dates of each of your QRTAL9*.qrw files now? Also, please reconfirm the release dates of GL9.

Hi, Darcy,

Those dates are from back on the original release of GL9.

Something on their system seems to be preventing the update. Or, perhaps they have more than one \QRASP folder on their server? Is this possible? I think it's worth you having a look see.

Do you have the more recent QRTAL9*.qrw files on a notebook PC that you have with you? If so, try zipping those files and unzippig them to their \QRASP folder. The files should have March 2008 dates.

Softrak,

You nailed it, two qrasp folders. One is in the root of G:\qrasp and the other is G:\Softrak\System\QRASP. As this is a site we're cleaning up, I'm not sure how this happened.

What could be removed to let the update happen??

Thanks,

Darcy Chretien

Hi Darcy,

The QRASP directory under Softrak should also be there. It is used by CHKSYS.EXE to confirm the tables that are in the QRASP on the report tables drive.

Softrak,

Ok, good! That is what I thought. I will try to zip up the files from a version I have with me. I am puzzled at what would be preventing the files from updating.

Thanks again

Softrak,

I tried using the zip method with the correct files, however now when I try to open Ledger it is saying my report tables drive is set to G: and that the drive does not contain current report tables.

Any ideas??

Did you delete G:\QRASP ? That's the report tables drive (and directory). All workstations should have a mapping for drive "G:" that is the same.

Andrew,

No I didn't delete it, all I did was copy over the old QRAL9* files. Nothing was deleted though.

Hi, Darcy,

Is there a \QRASP folder on the workstation you are running Ledger from? This would cause a problem.

When you did your zip file with the QRT files, what options did you use? Did you have any of the options set in the Folders section, such as 'Save extra folder info'?

Softrak,

Indeed there is a \QRASP file on this workstation. In regards to the folders i didn't have any of the options set up like that.

What should happen in regards to the install, from an alternate workstation without that file??

Thanks,

Softrak,

The hang up is that on each workstation it is saying the Report tables are set to G:, but it doesn't contain current report tables for Ledger so it won't install from any workstation.

Hi, Darcy,

The report tables should be located on the server. If there is also a report table folder (i.e. \QRASP) on the local workstation, that will cause you a problem. Remove it. The QRTAL9* files that were being updated should also be located in the \QRASP folder on the server.

Am I correct that the mapped server drive to the report tables should be g:\QRASP? Or is it another mapped drive?

For the workstation that has a \QRASP folder on it locally, there is also probably a registry entry for the Windows user that uses the workstation (and runs Adagio from it) that indicates that the report table is on, say, C and this needs to be changed to G (or the mapped drive on the server that contains the report files).

Do other modules run okay still?

Darcy can you please call me (support) from wherever you are? I think it might be more helpful.

Softrak,

Thanks again for your help. Ledger is reinstalled, however even though the QRTAL9* files were renamed before the reinstallation the Detail listing will still not print as the files again installed with the old dates.

Hi, Darcy,

Have left a message for you at work to call this morning.

I am also interested in knowing the exact filename of the GL9 install file being used.

From the partner area on our website, I just downloaded the FullProduct of Ledger 9.0 (filename = AL8P20080402.EXE). When I right click on the install file and select its Properties followed by the Version tab, it says version 2.0.0.0.

Then, I renamed my QRTAL9* files and ran the install. The install correctly created both QRTAL9* files in my \QRASP folder with the correct dates of 3/19/2008 and 3/06/2008.
