I have the above error/violation message when I'm trying to print a report. What does this mean and how can I fix this? I also experienced the same problem in the GL while editing entries. Could you tell me why this is coming up, or if I'm doing something incorrect, or if this is something to do with the program or data.... Please help!!!

Hello Mel,

What module are you experiencing the problem in? Adagio Ledger? Which version? V8.1 or V9.0 or?? Which report generates the error? Does it always generate the error, or only sometimes (is it repeatable)? Do you get the error when you print preview the report, or only when you send it to the printer? What program is generating the address exception (it's name will be in the error message)?

Hi Andrew, Mel is not in the office during the daytime hours (she works in the evenings), so I will try and answer her questions. She is in the A/P Module (8.1, as there is no 9.0 yet). She gets the Violation message when trying to Print Preview the Cash Posting Journal. That is the first time it has happened in the A/P module. The program is "APWIN.exe.- read of address 001C4008". It didn't matter what we did, we could not print preview at all and because of the problem we had last week (info below & sent to Softrak last week, no response received and now the question has been taken off the Forum), we were cautious in doing anything further, so have left the batch as is while awaiting a reply.
*****************************************************
Last week, Mel retrieved an A/P batch into the GL and we tried to edit the Period. While editing in the GL, the computer suddenly froze/hung and the data started to disappear off the batch on the screen. It didn't matter what she did, she could not even get out of the screen or module and just kept getting the same Access Violation message (which was provided in last week's email, now gone from your Forum list). In the end, she had to Ctrl/Alt/Delete to exit the screen & programme. When she logged back in, half of the data in the batch was missing. We can identify the transactions data from the A/P batch posting (hardcopied), but is there a way to retrieve the 'deleted/disappeared/missing' transactions into the GL?

If you need to call me, call Allyson @ 778-571-0578 or 604-220-7259 (Surrey, BC)

Sorry, I'm on the road. I think your Adagio consultant is going to have to pay a visit in order to figure out what's going on.

BTW - topics are never deleted - they just scroll off the first page. You can click one of the page links to see them still there. You can also post a reply to move them back to the top of the forum if you think the issue has not been answered.

Hi, Allyson/Mel,

I agree with Andrew that you should contact your Adagio dealer and have them come in and take a look at your data, etc.. These errors may all be related.

Would you please confirm for me the exact version and release dates of GL you're using also? For example, if you select Help and About from the menu, does it say Ledger 9.0A (080402) or something else?

Have you run a Backup and a Data Integrity Check on both the AP and the GL data? This is advisable, especially because you had to end the task to close the program before. Both functions are available from the File menu within each module.

Make sure you run the backup first. If any errors are detected during the DIC and the Rebuild button becomes active, click the Rebuild button and see if it corrects the errors, then run DIC again.

If you have any uncertainty with this, again, please contact your Adagio dealer.

It's good that you have a hardcopy of the posting journal as the batch will have to be recreated.

Best to contact your Adagio dealer and get them to check things out though.
