Hi mtrackey,

When printing checks, Quik Check for Windows reads through all the specifications in your data directory to compile a list. After you have chosen the spec to use and print the check (or checks), then the print check portion of the program reads that spec and inserts the relevant check information, printing the final document.

If someone else designed the check spec for you, and used a newer version of the designer, this may be the problem. A newer version of the program may have updated features on thge spec, and an older version of the program cannot read these features. This has been known to cause the error you mentioned. If you can print (preview) checks using a sample check specification, that would point toward the problem being that you are using a spec that is too new for your program.

Typically, the error you quoted has some more text, such as 'page width' or something else. That sometimes also gives a clue as to whats happening. Another problem could be that you have a page size defined on your spec that does not mesh with the settings of your printer driver. What is the size of your check (8.5x11, 8.5x7, another custom size)? Make sure your spec size (as defined in File | Specification Options in the check designer). is correct. Also make sure that your printer driver can handle that page size. Since the error started happening when you installed a new printer, perhaps this is where the issue lies; the driver.

Hope this helps.
