When a vendor issues us a credit we normally enter it on Adagio Payables as a Credit Note and deduct the amount from the next payment to the vendor. Occasionally, a vendor issues us a credit and provides us with a cheque for the amount. Is there a way in Adagio Payables to enter the credit note and then process a reverse payment (in other words, a deposit into our bank account instead of a withdrawl) for the amount?

When entering the credit note, distribute the amount to the bank?

I'm curious about how others handle this because my staff use manual Ledger entries far too often for way too many situations (i.e. COD payments, tax payments, US payables, etc.) I'm trying to steer them to do their entries in the Payables module whenever possible. I'm not sure if in this situation (a cheque received from a vendor) maybe it makes more sense to do the Ledger entry directly. Only problem is when they do that, we have no record of the credit in Payables.

Hi Susan

Enter a zero dollar invoice in Payables, with the debit to cash and the offsetting credit(s) to the amounts debited when the invoice was originally entered. I would have said enter a zero dollar credit note, but I'm not sure whether you can do that in Adagio - if so, then that would be better.

There's still time to register for today's free webinar on Adagio Payables. You can ask further specific questions during the presentation.
