Accpac client after visiting an Adagio training session requested that we change their check spec to allow them to print additional forms.

I made all of what I thought were the necessary changes (removed the advice details) but realized that while the details no longer print, the system still recognizes that there are more than 10 detail lines and prints the voided check as before. I checked the specification optins, but do not see anything related to this, so this appears to be in-bedded w/in the program. HOW DO I STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING?

As it stands - the spec is setup for "Advice", "Check", "None". It's a custom size form. Based on the demos I'd seen before, I thought it was just this a matter of configuring an additional form template and setting up the system to print the addtional form.As I going to have to create a completely new check spec?

In the File/Specification Options screen when editing your check spec, the 'max number of details' still needs to be set greater than 10 in order to stop this from happening. For example, the sample check spec AP$ChkAF.sam with this layout has the max details set to 99. There are internal program calculations about setting a page break after this many details (I believe). It isn't enough to just remove the Advice Detail section.

Though you could set this number to something really large like 1000, I suggest against it as this seems to slow things down significantly when printing checks. Determine about how many invoices might possibly be paid by a single check, then add say another 50% and use this number for the max details.

This is likely all you have to do; set the 'max details' to a much larger number.

Believe it or not, I've tried that b/f posting this. My additional form is setup to print 55 details line, so I set the check spec to print 50. Wellll, that merely added additional blank pages.

Thinking that I needed to remove the advice section, I setup the "Spec Option" with a layout = "None", "Check", None. That didn't work, as it just caused the check details to advance up on the page. I tried 500 details and locked up the system.

OK. Just tried 99. I've gotten 27 pages of the check header, and the check details d/not print. Interesting.

Question: Is this perhaps b/c we are working with a 'custom' sized check??

Have you compared your spec to the sample spec referred to earlier? You may learn what it is about your spec that should be changed from looking at that.

Otherwise, perhaps you can email the spec to us at support@softrak.com and we can take a look. There must be something -- perhaps spec or section properties, or even some spec codes that are hidden by the collapsed section -- that is causing the problem. Making changes to # lines or details or section heights is often best done bit by bit rather than making large changes all at once. Smaller changes can help to zero in on more 'cause and effect' types of things.

We don't have anything reported previously about a custom size causing the issue you describe.

Yeppie, tried comparing specs. The only difference appears to be the size of the checks. As previously mentioned our client has a custom size, while the sample spec prints to a regular 8 1/2 x 11 sheet paper.

HOWEVER, I created a new check spec w/o the Advice sections - so the entire spec is just "check" with an end-of-page. That seems to be working and so I'll use that.
