Hi Susan,

We just need the GL*.DAT file. You can work in the other modules while we have the GL (just don't retrieve any GL batches).

The batches are deleted from your subsidiary ledges when they are retrieved into Ledger. To get them back, you'd have to restore the other modules' data too.

Don't bother purging the posting journals, then you can print them out whenever you want to (no need to append to a .DOC file).

I have now successfully restored a back up of the Ledger Data from Thursday night AFTER day end was completed. Am I understanding correctly that if I now restore a back up of all the data except for Ledger (i.e. OE, IC, AP, AR, etc) that was created at the end of the day Friday just BEFORE day end processing, providing the data in the back up is good, then I can run Friday day end processing again and we'd be all fixed up?

BTW Andrew, I emailed you my data but it bounced back. It says the message is too large. The zipped GL data is 7 mb.

Anyway, please let me know if the above could work.

Hi Susan,

Yes.

Upload the data to http://www.softrak.com/dbr and we'll get it on Monday. If the repair is straightforward, you might not have to do anything more.

Hi Andrew,

As far as I can tell, I think I have it fixed. I made several back ups to be sure and then copied the GL data from Thursday night after Day End's back up and the remaining modules data from just before Day End Friday's back up. Therefore I am to the point where things were just before day end yesterday. Ledger is showing outstanding batches to retrieve. I'm going to run day end now and as long as everything goes well, we should be up and running. If this doesn't work, I'll send you the data.

Next time I'll keep in mind that I can just send the data to you to fix. I suppose the experience I'm gaining in this isn't a bad thing so that I have a better understanding of the data files.

P.S. My avatar quit working too - shesh!

Hi Susan,

Glad to hear it.

BTW - data fixes aren't necessarily free, but if they are simple and straighforward we try and be accomodating. All depends on how much you value your time.

I'll answer the post about the posting journalsin the other thread.
