The Item field only allows 5 characters. is there any way we could increase this limit?

FYI, I went into the "profile" and did see the options for increase the length, but it is "blue" and I could not overwrite it

Hello Henry,

Adagio Inventory supports a 16 character item numbe in (up to) four user defined segments. If you want to change the layout of your item number, this change needs to be proagated throughout many Adagio modules.

There are 3rd Party tools available to make this change - your Adagio consultant can assist you.

Once the item format is set (in the Company Profile, as you have found), it cannot be changed. It would be dangerous to have some items in history with one format and newer items with a different format.

A 3rd party program is available to allow changing of the item numbers (including all history). There is some information on our website by clicking here. Their webiste is http://www.aimadagio.com.

we do not want to change our current item code. What we would like to do is to load new item with a longer code. Currently the Adagio system only allows us entering up to 5 characters. we want to create new item code with 16 characters.

The answer is the same as above. Your current format is 5 characters. A new format would incorporate not only segments but also the overall length. In order to make any changes to lengths or segments of an item number format, a 3rd party program is necessary to do so. You don't have to remove your existing 5 character items - you would just have to increase the allowable maximum with the format change.

The length of the item description in Adagio Inventory is 40 characters. There are 4 additional lines of description available as well as 3 optional strings. You can simulate a longer description by placing information in the additional fields.

Can you give us an example of the type of item description you are trying to save?
