Hello
I have users set-up with Adagio Checks with their computer Regional Settings set to 'French-Canada' and their keyboards are French - When entering invoice detail amounts, they are getting garbled amounts when the tab past the amount field.

What is the best solution for this to enable the users to keep the 'French' keyboard and to continue using the Regional settings for French-Canada?

Any help is would be appreciated...

Hello Sadie,

Could you define "garbled amounts"? Specifically, what they key, then what they see?

When you switch regional settings to French-Canada, the comma becomes the decimal symbol. In Adagio Cheques or Payables when entering amounts it will not accept the comma. If you enter a period the amount comes out 100 times what you wanted. For example if you enter 300.55 it takes it as 30,055.00. When it shows up in the distribution it can become 3,005,500.00 and so on.
If you customize the French Canada settings and change the currency symbol to the period, it seems to work fine.

Hi Don,

If you enter "300,55" is that amount correctly interpreted when the French settings are turned on?

Hi Andrew,

When the French settings are on, Adagio does not accept the , as the decimal symbol. It will only accept the .
If you type 300 without a decimal symbol at all, it enters it as 30000. If you use the sample data and try to pay Atlas Janitorial three dollars with a manual cheque the process goes as follows: Enter 3 for amount and the detail line will show 300,00 and the cheque amount shows 30000,00. If you edit it then it only gets worse. Never tried posting it.

Note with a French Canada regional setting Excel accepts the comma as the decimal point symbol and on a keypad it will accept the decimal point but show it as a comma. Adagio doesn't do this.

Thanks Don,

Unfortunately, this isn't something that can be easily fixed. However, now that we know about the problem, we'll see if there's anything we can do.

Hello Andrew, sorry for the late update...
Whether they enter the amount with a comma or a decimal point, they are seeing the wrong number..

For example - they enter 385.25 or 385,25 - when they tab past the field, they see 38 525,00 $

Is there a way for them to keep their computer and keyboard set to 'French' and still be able to use Adagio correctly?

Hello Sadie,

If they customized their currency settings to display amounts with comma separators and period decimal points (while keeping the other french language settings), that might work (although I haven't tested it).

Sorry, but this won't be an easy thing to fix, but we'll look at it.

Hello all,

A follow on question:

Does it make any difference what keyboard is attached to the computer, or is it only a "regional settings" issue?

I don't know the actual answer to that... but I believe that it is a Regional settings issue...
