I am trying to do my year end for t/b and when i try to consolidate the g/l it says that it is unable to access the g/l batch file and it won't let me close without doing this

This is an error that we are aware about - that attempting to consolidate the G/L batch file gives the error that you reported. All I can offer is that you should be able to retrieve the batch into GL (albeit not consolidated), in order to finish year end.
