Is there such a thing as an e-mail document template editor?
We have a situation where the all the specification files and documents are printing fine to both the screen and to paper. However when the documents are (pdf'ed and) sent to the queue for e-mailing, there appears to be some corruption of the form in the line item details section.
The only way we can think to describe it is that there is data (part of the item numbers) being "written" or super-imposed on top of other data. Most of the form is fine (headers, totals, etc.). But line item details are unreadible.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks
Cary R.

Are you viewing the pdf w/ Adobe reader? We had a case where a different PDF reading program had problems w/ the pdf, but Adobe would read and show the formatting just fine.

Thanks Dave:
Yes, we're using the lastest version of Acrobat.
We've tried viewing the file with both the reader or the full-version of Adobe Acrobat and on different machines. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Some data still appears to be over-written onto other data - making the form (order confirmation, invoice, etc.) difficult to read.
Incidently, we've had this issue on our machines rights from the first installation of Adagio (2+years?). We're only just trying to resolve it now for a possible client.
We figure it's either coming from something in the spec file or something being written badly as the pdf is generated.
Thanks
Cary

Hi Cary,

The generation of printed specifications will not be 100% identical to generation of PDFs for emailing, as the process for PDF vs printer driver is not exactly the same.

One difference is that for PDFs, objects are 'transparent' when they are not when printing or previewing. It may be that you have two overlapping fields in your specification, and you only see the one underneath when generating an email. Edit your specification and find the field having problems. Left-click on the field (in your case, the item number field?) and use the keyboard cursor keys to move it aside. IS there anything underneath it? If so, perhaps it should be deleted.

You may also find that fields are word-wrapping or cutting off when they should not. For fields that are doing this, try widening the field object a little bit.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Sure enough there were a couple of overlapping fields "underneath" that weren't noticed originally.
Most of the corrupted printing has been fixed using your method.

Interestingly, the overlapping is gone from the first page of the pdf'ed document, but is still there on the subsequent pages. Any ideas where that could be coming from?

You have other fields marked to only print on specific copies?
