Actually, the situation is that the user record does not have 'Edit Gridview' enabled. To make sure this is set, go into an Adagio program where you load the inquiry, and from the File menu, pick Users (if you have access). Edit the particular user record and make sure the 'Edit Gridview' selection is appropriately determined.

Workspaces can be editable with the setup above.
