That means that you haven't been running the Year End process in Inventory Control. The Year-End process doesn't do a lot in that module, but one of its tasks is to move YTD figures into LY figures. Then it sets YTD figures to zero.

So the good news is that you know what you've sold of each product since the item was first added to inventory. The bad news is that you don't have accurate figures for this year and last year. You can fix this by purchasing a utility from Dakota Software Adagio Toolkit. If you have time, ambition and GridView, you can calculate those figures and import them into Inventory to overwrite the existing figures.
